Glad to see the defense was still able to create turnovers against a quality Big 12 opponent. Before today KU only had given up 4 turnovers this year. We got 4 on them today....including the botched punt return.

Unfortunately it wasn't enough, and AA's two turnovers were both very costly.

We continue to be very good at getting takeaways. This team is close. It's frustrating, but hopefully the best is yet to come.

Although I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in both our O and D after halftime, I have to say I'm very happy to see an ISU team respond to adversity.

Wasn't all that long ago that instead of getting TWO comeback TDs and an onside kick recovery - ISU football would've folded like a lawnchair and lost this game by 21.

Toughness is being built

I know that there is allot of football left this year and that we can win the next three, still I can't help but image how good this team will be next year.

That was a GREAT onside. Sed was really the only one that could have got it. It was perfect. Wish we could have used it for a win.

we need some moreplayers like lj,tb in our defensive secondary that can cover their man.we got beat by a mediocre end called meier that made our pass defenders look sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think our corners played well tonight, it was the safeties that kept getting beat. Also, Reesing made some amazing throws even though we had decent coverage.

Probably the best onside I've seen in a very, very long time.

Yeah, a freshman with a great kick and a freshman with a great catch/recovery. Mahoney deserves major props for his play today and on the entire year really. I only wish we could have given him a chance to win the game. Another great freshman to add to LJ, Darks, Benton, Sed, etc.

Edit: Never mind my post, I forgot which thread I was in...this is a thread about the positives!

Very good execution in the first half, and our guys looked very confident. We looked like the #16 team, and Kansas looked like the unranked team. Now we just need to put together 4 quarters of quality football, don't get comfortable or timid with a lead!!

Reesing will be gone next year.

I thought we handled Reesing pretty well. Kept him in check. Im glad he will go out with a squeeker rather than a blow out on us.

Special teams continue to look good. Couple bad punts into the wind but I'm guessing he didn't realize the wind was as strong as it was.

I wish we'd get Sed more involved and if Bates isn't going to be playing QB, get him in there somewhere. Darks was great today.

Yes they were, but thats all part of the learning process of a young quarterback. AA has been improving every game he plays, and shows lots of promise and poise. This team will turn some heads this year, as well as years to come.

Agree that our DB's did not cover Meier well. The 2 TDs he had came against Singleton and Hunley - so DBs instead of LBs on him which is what you want. But - he is anything but mediocre. He is big, fast, and has EXCELLENT hands.

Not to be too nitpicky - but from a "within the flow of the game" perspective, his fumble was not a very costly turnover. In hindsight however (i.e. post mortem,) getting points on that Red Zone trip would have been nice. However, at the time we were up 20 - 0 and KU did not turn that into points at all.

The interception - both costly in the flow of the game and in hindsight - was the dagger.

Chizik coached defenses have generally been very good in the takeaway department. This development is not happenstance my friends...it is coaching.

Positives:

1. No more complaining about redzone shortcomings

2. No more complaining that our offense can't score against decent defenses.
