A Must Read

I would say that this has a good chance of being correct. It's almost too petty-sounding for JP.

I don't know how he sounds but I can't imagine a guy gets to that position without some semblance of diplomacy. A high school AD knows better than that.

Either it was a momentary lack of weakness or he has some assistants write some of his replys for him. That's not a great excuse because it's still his name on the bottom of the letter.

Yeah. always great to smack down life long Cyclone fans. Great PR move.

Sometimes even lifelong Cyclone fans need to be put in their place - such as when they make idle threats about withholding any future support from ISU athletics if the AD doesn't meet HIS demands NOW. Kind of reminds me of what my daughter will start saying to me in a few years when I'm not letting her get her way...

I'd still like proof the whole thing is legit. I won't put it past anyone involved.

Considering how quick he is to go to the media, the fact that he hasn't said anything speaks volumes. At the very least it was someone in his office and he doesn't want to come out and do the Steve Spurrier "I had my Sports Info guy fill out my ballot. I'm sorry I didn't look at it. Tim Tebow should be 1st team SEC QB" routine.

Lifelong Cyclone fans weren't put down at all. If the thing is legit, one hypocritical moron was put down. That's not a blanket indictment. That just hits one dumb guy.

I am a life long Cyclone fan. I find that idea that you put a price tag on how much of a fan someone is to be very offensive. Listening to the kid on the radio, he sure didn't sound dumb. He sounded like a very well spoken Cyclone fan who is frustrated with the lack of accountability and success that surrounds our MBB program right now.

The bottom line is JP has not earned the right to treat MBB fans this way. Under his leadership we have experienced new lows, and little if any reward. He should be very humble and apologetic right now with the fans, not a pompous greedy jerk.

Of course, like you said initially, I really hope that he didn't write this. Before this came out, I would have never thought JP would have been so foolish to treat a fan like this.

Does your daughter buy season tickets from you?

It wasn't so much of a price tag on being a fan as a question to point that the dude is doing anything to be part of a solution.

We've tried to get by being way too cheap for a long time around here. It just doesn't work like that.

I think that JP has earned that right, if we wanted to go that route, more than other ADs here. He's doing the work to finally build a department here. Sometimes that has rough patches along the way, but he's made choices time and time again that almost all of us would agree with.

No, but most of the time my 14-month old daughter acts with more maturity than this guy acted with when he wrote his e-mail to JP...

And apparently she also has more maturity than the AD of your athletic dept.

I mean seriously, does the fact that this guys email lacked class excuse the fact that JP also acted without class? The guy is/should be/has to be better than that.

He is a 20 year old college kid. Do you want him to take out a student loan and give it to ISU?

Just out of curiosity how much did you donate when you were 20 years old?

And yet it's still just an ASSUMPTION that he wrote it...

No. Just don't threaten withholding financial support that you don't have in the first place...

I didn't donate anything other than buying a football season ticket. Then again, I also wasn't shooting my mouth off telling the AD how to do his job, either...

Look, I have been a huge supporter of JP, but the fact is he should have hit delete and walked away from the computer. The last thing our MBB program needs is more negativity, and clearly many people were put off by his response. That very FACT shows that JP made a mistake.
