I hate to say this but at the age of 20 I made alot of stupid comments to alot of different people.. Yeah hard to believe. I think alot of us would of wrote something similar at that age.
Heck 3/4 of the people on this site over the age of 40 would write something just as far out of bounds.
I do get what your saying though.
I agree with everything you have just posted. The difference is that I don't head to Hawkeye Report and give Hawkeye fans my opinion. You know why? Because I don't care about the Hawkeyes. I have nothing invested with them.
As a Business major, you probably haven't learned it yet, and it's possible that in school you won't. Simply put, the customer is NOT always right, and sometimes it's you have to fire a customer. If you try to make everyone happy, you'll make no one happy.
As a CEO, he is choosing to build a customer base of season ticket holders and donors. Unprofitable customers will sink a business. And without season ticket holders and donors, it is an unprofitable business. He simply asked him to buy season tickets and donate instead of ********. I really don't see this as either being a bad thing or disrespectful.
Actually, in the past, you've seemed pretty reasonable to me. It's about stepping into the middle of something that we are talking about. If I were to go to the Hawkeye lounge and start spouting off about a Hawk AD, I'd probably get a pretty cold reception. No different here.
So would a car salesman tell a guy who comes in looking for cheap used Cavalier either buy a Cadillac or get the hell of my lot? Every fan starts somewhere whether it be buying a ticket here and there to buying an ISU t-shirt or whatever. Our e-mailing friend may be a poor 20 year old college student today but may be a rich business owner in 10-15 years. That guy you sold a Cavalier to may come back in five years and buy a $50,000 car. You don't know. So why alienate him?
I agree. The biggest difference between what a 20 year old and a 40 year old will say is that the 40 year old will tone it down if it's not anonymous.
I'm in sales, and rule #1 is that discussing politics and religion will cost you money. That's why I come here to vent. :wink:
If you had a point, I would expect the same reaction that I am getting here. Some agree some don't. But agree or disagree with me because of my points and not because of my affiliation. By the way our AD is a quivering panzy that has no balls. Just my two cents.

Yep, you got it! Man, this is getting to be one long thread and how this "public" thing started was a long way back. It was between Frak and Hawk and Hawk basically said that he could come on here and say anything he wanted because it's a public forum.
I know what you mean... Although when I was in sales talking politics sometimes helped. Then again I worked with farmers so all politics are trying to screw them over.
You are right though... Someone older would tone it down if they were leaving their real name and such.
Your analogy is a poor one. This kid reminds me of someone who comes on my lot and complains about the tires, dings, rock chips, etc. whil driving a car that's worth about $600 bucks. Sure, he may be a buyer some day, but unless he's going to actually buy something after trashing every car on my lot, I'm going to kick him to the curb, regardless of whether or not he may be a real buyer someday. If he's respectful, I'll give him the moon and stars.
It's obvious that his beef is with Pollard. If he makes it big someday, and he is a TRUE fan, he'll contribute, allthough it may not happen until Pollard is gone.
