I know SHawk, Tarheel, and others will be on here touting him as a hawk....according to ESPN he's narrowing his list to 5 schools before fall and then taking visits.....

Ummm he has two visits for sure....

Iowa - of course

Florida.....uh oh...., if so, then for all the same reason you've indicated that Harrison Barnes will be a dukie or tarheel, Derby will be a gator.....

Tradition - Florida
Conference - Florida
Weather - Florida
Big Man on Campus - Iowa
Best Athlete on the team - Iowa
Chance at winning a National Championship - Florida
Chance at winning a Heisman Trophy - Florida
Chance at being in the arrest blotter - Iowa (because of the Ped Mall of course)

Hmmmmmm great player though seriously, it will be interesting to see the hawk fans bash him once he's chosen the gators - just like they did last year with Barrent!!!!!

Doubt he'll be a Gator. Iowa has a much better chance of landing him than ISU has with Barnes.

That being said, I don't have a great gut feeling on him. He'll be an excellent QB, but he has some GREAT offers. UCLA, Florida, Alabama, etc... Hopefully his strong relationship with the coaching staff works well for the Hawks.

Uh, thats because Derby is not the single best player in the entire nation.

Where did I say he was? My comment was in response to the OP's assertion that he'll go to Florida for the same reasons that many think Barnes will go to Duke/UNC. I disagree.

By the way, here's a list of Derby's BCS offers that I could find....

Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Kansas State, Illinois, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, and Wicsonsin

Pretty impressive list.

My eldest is a freshman at City High and he says Florida apparel has dominated A.J.'s wardrobe since last fall. Pretty much every kid I know who played football last fall says the Gators are the runaway leader for his services. Sorry hawks fans...

On another front, City's backup QB, Jeremy Krueger, is headed to ISU (for academics) and plans to walk-on to the football team. The kid is a phenominal punter and all-around athlete.

Really? Because everybody else who's spoken to him, including Derby himself, has said there is no lead, and his recruitment is wide open.

Wow. You've spoken to everybody else that's spoken to him? How do you find time to post here? There's always a leader...spoken or not. Barnes has one.

Please don't count Kansas State as impressive. It denigrates the meaning of the word impressive.

Read my first post on the subject. I said I don't have a good feeling about him coming to Iowa. However, if he was predominantly wearing Gator apparel, people would know.

i would be livin it up if i was this kid also and taking all of the visits i could even if i knew where i was gonna go. nobody but him knows where he is gonna end up or who he is leaning torwards, you guys try to find anything to bash the hawkeyes fact or fiction, and its kinda funny how you all say this is cf so go to the hn boards, but i find out more info about the hawks here than i do over there. i think you're all just closet hawk fans!!:yes:

He's going to Iowa or Florida. I'd put Iowa's chances at around 45%. Things might change if USC offers during his visit.

I don't follow recruiting, or try to get into the mind of an 18 year old kid to try and predict where he is or isn't going to go to school.

Who is AJ Derby?
