A few things to consider:

When you think about how great this season has gone, you really need to look at a few things too:

We held a scholarship and were hoping/expecting AJ Green to come. Last minute, he didn't.
We were expecting Williiams to start at the 1, and due to a terrible injury he's unavailable.
We have gone with Lipsey, a true freshman PG, starting from day one.

Kunc got hurt right before conference play and hasn't played a minute.

Considering all of this, and to be sitting in 1st after 8 games, is truly remarkable. Massive credit to the staff, players, everybody. The amount of grit this team has displayed has been incredible. There is still a lot of season left and all of the teams goals are ahead of them and they can do great things. But this is a year where it would have been easy for things to get sideways. It is a year where there have been a lot of opportunities to hang their heads. They have continued to push through. I don't know where this team stacks up historically but this might be the most proud of a group I've ever been. They never day a day off. They never take a play off. Great job.

I remember thinking not even a month ago, that the magic number of Big 12 wins to make the field would be 7. I even predicted a 17-15 6-12 type of season way back before it all started. To think that we could surpass these marks by early February, and be in the conversation to win the Big 12 regular season halfway thru is pleasantly surprising to say the least. Credit to TJ and his staff for getting these guys to rally around the injured guys and the ugly loss to Iowa, and not only keep this thing afloat, but thrive while doing it.
