MLB: A A Ron Boone

No, not really. Guess I've heard too many esteemed ESPN analysts crap all over the selection.

Not a Yankee fan, but this was great choice. Too bad he didn't end up in the Twins front office.

Not that impressed on paper. We'll see how it goes.

I found the multilingual Hensley Meulens to be intriguing since it's really an international game when it comes to the players these days. I won't hire a guy today that couldn't speak Spanish.

All I want out of this season is the payroll to stay under the luxury tax threshold so they can go overpay for starting pitching in the offseason next year but not get killed with luxury tax. Then you start extending your young talent.

Wasn't particularly impressed by any of the guys interviewed. HATED the idea of Eric Wedge though so anything is a step up from him.

I respect Buck Showalter deeply so when he endorsed Meulens I was on board. I think both are great. You make a good point about espanol but there's no shortage of Spanish speakers Boone could find as a bench coach. I don't think Joe wasn't good with the younger players but I do think Aaron will be good with them.

Which is why I think language skills would be a huge asset. Hell, dropping into a language immersion course and at least picking up some rudimentary skill would help Boone show he really cares to connect with the young kids.

Not worried about the day to day baseball and game management. I don't think that is all that hard for a guy who has been in the game his whole life. If you have a good bench staff and a good pitching coach you're good to go.
