9/11 - Where were you?

I was in college at the time and I had just got out of the shower getting ready for classes and was browsing StrangeTalk (is that board even alive anymore?) and saw all kinds of threads on the WTC so I turned the TV on. I didn't go to class at all that day and just watched everything on TV. Those on my floor who did go to class said not many showed up and 1 professor even told them all to leave and go watch the coverage on TV because there is no reason people should be going to class today with the tradgedy that happened. It was even enough to move the Iowa vs Iowa State game that weekend to the end of the season, definitely a moment in history that impacted a lot of people.

Less than a mile from the Pentagon. The smoke and the smell, not something I like to think about.

I was in the 6th grade, waiting for Guidance class to start. I didn't really grasp the gravity of the situation at the time, but I'll never forget where I was.

This morning, as I was driving to work (at least here in Lincoln) I found that the weather was eerily similar to that of 9/11/01. Sky was completely clear, sun was bright, the air was dry and crisp, there was dew all over the grass/deck/house. Two days nearly 10 years apart to the day that couldn't have been more perfect weather wise, couldn't have been more opposite for the history of the United States.

I was a senior in high school. Got to school early and didn't hear about it until my classmates started to show up and talk about what they heard on the radio.

I had AP Gov't early in the morning and watched the towers fall. That spring we, 5 of the 6 students and our teacher, decided to go to DC. Best decision I made in high school. Prior to 9/11 we had spent the first weeks of school discussing the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, which I have always found ironic. Didn't know anyone truly affected by loss of life that day but it still chokes me up thinking about that day.

Today, MSNBC reran the footage of 9/11/2001 and I decided to record it on my computer to show my future kids. I also have 2 VHS tapes back home that I need to convert that I sat on record while I was at school on 9/12 and 9/13.
