6 wins

Honestly I feel bad for you that not only do you think that, but you typed it.

It's a 0% possibility for a team that couldn't close out two games in a row with over 90% chance to win when we had our leads.

The players can continue to improve and the only opponent left that is as good/better than OSU & BU is Oklahoma IMO. Is it likely ISU wins 5 out of the last 6, no. Possible, yes.

I take you as a glass half empty kind of guy. Another way to look at the last two games is this - for six out of the last eight quarters ISU was clearly the better team against two opponents who will in all likelihood finish in the top half of the conference. They've proven they can play with anybody in the Big 12. It's just a matter of finishing games out. So what happens if they do figure out that part starting this Saturday?

Look, 6 wins seems kind of silly to talk about right now. They have to show they can play at a high level for four quarters first. But suppose they beat Texas? Is there another team left on the schedule (this side of Oklahoma) that you look at and think, "that game just isn't winnable."

Yeah, it's a long shot to get to even five wins; the team will have to grow up and figure out how to close in a hurry and keep their front line guys healthy, which was always a bugaboo for the CPR teams in the second half of the season. But it's possible. Stop raining on the OP's parade. Disagree if you want, but maybe try not to be such a **** about it.

I know the "process" thing gets a lot of eye rolls but its true. When building a program you typically lose big, then lose close, then win close, then win big.

For the majority of Paul's last 2 years we were losing big. Then during the last half of last year and the first half of this year we have lost close. Have to hope we start winning close soon.

With Iowa State? How can you not be? It's gratifying to assume the worst and be happy when they pull it out.

It's hilarious to me someone could start a thread with any hope of getting to 6 wins this season, and people entertain it. You guys kill yourselves with overdoses on hope.

People even assume KU is a win when they would have beaten TCU had they made their last field goal.

We're not winning six games. End of story. Likely won't even win Saturday. I feel bad for anyone who entertains the thought, because it's crazy deluded. At least wait for next season before talking about a freaking bowl game.

Why do you feel that way? I'm mentally stable either way, and apparently you are not.

Look... I want them to win. Will they, probably not, but it doesn't affect me in any way shape or form in my "real" life. I don't understand why guys like you beat down other guys who are optimistic.

If they win at Texas i'll be happy. If not... its a football game.

There's a lot of us on CF who've taken Calculus. We know that the chances of ISU winning out aren't 0, just approaching 0. But not 0 ;) :D

The objectively ridiculous optimism is what leads to the dumpster fire game threads where everyone is pissed and disappointed. Plus, sometimes when I see something stupid, I reply and say "that's stupid." It happens. Which is like most of this thread, actually, not just me.

Keep improving, I am much more impressed with the last couple of weeks (aside from the blowing big leads) but continue playing the way they have in the first 3 quarters of games and the wins will come. Just need to get over that last hurdle and hopefully it's a domino affect.

I want them to keep improving as much or more than the next guy, but reality is ISU is not 6-2 in the last 8 quarters but rather 0-2 in the last two games. They were so bad in the 4th quarters that it more than made up for outplaying their opponents before that in both games.

Let's just hope we continue to see incremental improvement and some wins out of it. I won't start hoping for a bowl game this year until ISU has 4 wins and 2 teams still to play on the schedule (which will mean they are already past OU). I will be wearing my mittens and carrying my devil's pitchfork to those games, though.

That's what I love about this season. I am looking forward to every remaining game regardless of the record. It's fun watching new players work their way into the rotation... true fresmen, redshirt freshmen, sophomores etc. There's talent scattered around this roster and guys are getting great experience and very good coaching. Expect another infusion of true freshmen difference makers again next year.

The only real disappointment so far for me has been UNI (still can't figure that one out -- Panthers are 2-3 including a freaking loss to University of South Dakota). If we were to get on a roll and reel of 3-4 Ws, that damn game is probably going to cost us a bowl appearance.

New coach, new system, new everything. It's going to take time for all of it to come together. We play UNI today, and its a win for sure.
