49er's - Cowboys

Other than looking decent against a bad Tampa Bay team, Dallas has looked like shet the last 5 games. Dak wont have two very good games in a row, Niners by 8+.

I don't expect my Cowboys to win but it isn't laughably different. They are very similar teams. I would say San Francisco has the advantage even on a neutral field. I expect a good one though. 33-31 San Fran.

LOL. Line is 47 which sounds about right. Implies 24-21. No way 33-31. 64 points is a stupid loser bet.

Dallas also played in the toughest division in football, so ending the season 1 game behind SF should tell you this won't be a cakewalk. Besides, Dallas is bipolar. You keep asking where Dallas has the advantage. It depends on which Dallas team shows up. The SF defense has been far from infallible the latter part of the season. This game could go either way.
Dallas’ D looked really good against Tampa. The return of Vander Esch seemed to make a difference. This will undoubtedly be Purdy’s toughest test. I think San Francisco is the better team, but we’ll have to see…

Both teams have very good defenses, but 49ers have more weapons on offense. If 49ers can run the ball, and if they don't turn it over, they win by at least two scores.

Purdy playing for a Super Bowl would be one of the great stories in the history of the NFL, and he was playing for ISU last season. This is huge in many different ways.

It is an amazing story.... not up to the level of Kurt Warner.... but still unreal.

Am I the only one with this strange feeling that today feels like a bowl game day for Iowa State? Like, I'm _that_ invested in this game.

Tampas offense is really really bad

The possibility does exist that there is an overvaluing of the team that beat an 8-9 division winner that starts a 60 year old QB.

SF wins this one decisively. Better QB, better coach, better offensive weapons, better D, better kicker.

I'm pulling for the 49ers to go all the way but I'm not quite as nervous as I would be for ISU. I'm more just wanting Purdy to do really well. Obviously want them to win too but my #1 is Purdy continues to play well

I am struck by the stranger-than-fiction story line. NFL coaches, analysts, oddsmakers, and everyday Joe Six Packs, are not merely taken in by the Purdy phenomenon, they are awe struck. In watching the Youtube clips on this thread, you will see them pause, sit back, and smile introspectively. And to avoid putting a jynx on a rising superstar, they take a breath, and share observations that, before Thanksgiving 2022, were simply inconceivable.

The most rational observation I have heard was that Brock, in his 4 years starting for ISU, experienced not only victory, but a good measure of what we used to call the agony of defeat (copyright ABC's The Wide World of Sports of the 60s and 70s). Pros need to learn how to bounce back from a loss where you were expected to win. Players from the Ohio States of the world need years to learn that stuff in the pros. But for ISU products, it is simply baked in.

Regarding bowl-game-like anticipation, I view it more like a parent. He grew up here in fly over country, but now he is San Francisco's. He is the NFL's. And he is everyone's who ever labored in obscurity, and dared to dream of becoming relevant.
