Anyone know if central Iowa is suppose to get some good storms today or if they're going to be east of here?

East of you probably. There is a chance you could see storms as the I 35 are has decent dynamics(though not as impressive as western Iowa yesterday or eastern Iowa today) in place its just a question will the cap break before the boundary pushes thru. The RUC and HRRR both are close calls in terms of storms.

We don't need storms in DSM, just a little rain would be perfect.

If you get rain today it'll be from thunderstorms and if thunderstorms fire off they'll likely turn severe. Also rain amounts will likely be underwhelming these storms are going to be moving very quickly wherever they eventually form.

SPC coming out with a Tornado watch for NE Iowa, likely by 3pm.

any storms for Polk County? everything i've read is east of here today.

and to the person who like damaging storms - how much real estate do you own!?

No, you're right. Polk should be pretty quiet tonight. The area they're thinking about looks like it will roughly be Mason City to Cedar Rapids or so and then into MN/WI.

Storms could initially fire along the cold front in east central Iowa, but they will move quickly out the area to the NE.

Whats nutty is the fact that we are going from 80's and severe storms to a chance at snow accumulations later this week. Definitely wary of if snow will pan out but all 3 major models hint at it happening.

I think MNCYWX mentioned the possibility of snow also later in the week. Won't stay around long, and probably won't accumulate (IIRC).
