3 pt defense

I know it is said that 3 pt % defense is more luck (akin to FT% defense). But 11 games in, we're last place in % def AND total 3 pters attempted against and made. And team after team has their season high against us. Hard to ignore that after a while.

Leave people open, they make shots. It's true with our guys, true with the other team. Though like previously said, the French guy that was making everything was making them even when guarded well.

That guy was French?
Dang it. We surrendered on defense to a Frenchman?

And we were top 20 in 3pt defense in the non-conference.

The 7 top-150 opponents we played non-conference shot 29.9% from 3 pt range. The 11 conference opponents are shooting 39.1%. What changed?

Not defending our defense last night but I do think given our size and our help defense, that there are certain guys that are guarded looser than others and the three is acceptable. We did a good job on OSU's sharpshooter. Last night wasn't good. Morris played his butt off. We looked like a tired team last night in general. I think George, Kane and Thomas are all showing some fatigue over the last 2 games. Hopefully we get some guys rest in some of these coming games but it's going to be a grind.

Smart Big 12 coaches have had time to study non conference game film and are exploiting our weakness.

Better competition, more film, and true road games. Plus, teams probably handle double teams better now than early in the year, while our rotations on double teaming have not improved IMO.

Maybe I was blinded by the mostly awful performance last night but I don't remember us doubling the post hardly at all. Could be wrong there.

I'm working up something on three point defense, hope to find some answers. Cross your fingers.

One thing that makes me laugh is the posters that said they'd like to face Nova of all 3 seeds in yesterday's bracketology.

IMO, they'd be our worst matchup in the entire tournament because of how solid they are at the 3
