Walked to my car in the haunted forest after watching the fans storm the field and listening to Sweet Caroline. Waited a couple minutes to get out. We live in north Ames and we’re home in less than 5 minutes. Told a friend to get onto Lincolnway and head west out of town. He called me later and thanked me for the advice even though the two lane traffic on Hwy 30 past Ogden was slow as usual and passing was difficult.
 
;) Glad to see nothing has changed in terms of customer complaints on traffic control since I did that some 40 years ago. Whoa. Getting old is no fun.

We decided to wait it out in the lots for a couple of hours and traffic was still pretty backed up. Of course there was the accident on 30 and also one south of 30 on Duff by the car lot area. Looked like everyone was ok.

Is Lincoln Way now open going east towards Nevada? After the game we usually go east on Lincoln Way until we get just west of Nevada, then turn south to Hwy 30. Heading back to CR.

After the OSU game, Lincoln Way was closed at Dayton. We then went down Dayton to get on Hwy 30 but that was closed too. Had to backtrack to 13th to get on I35. Took us an hour just to get out of Ames after we left the parking lots.

You can take E. 13th street until 580th street and take that to Lincoln way.

From B4 it just isn’t that easy to get

i have another question. We park in B4. For years leaving after the game we turned left on Beech and went to Mortensen to University to Hwy 30. Just the way we come in. Then a few years ago they stopped letting you turn left onto Mortensen from Beech. Thus we started going out Lincoln Way to the east. Is the left turn still not allowed? We usually leave an hour or so after the game. They don’t let you go east on Center Drive out of B4 to get to University Blvd. Only other option I guess is to Beech-Lincoln Way-University.

Parked in B4 for the OSU game; we let traffic clear a bit then drove around tent row to the C lot lanes and were able to go right onto University. Worked pretty well.
 
I’ve done that before too. Just have to wait a little longer to let things clear out. Probably worth the wait.
 
Left with 4 minutes to go last night and still took over an hour to get out of G7. Traffic has been a trainwreck out of there all year.
 
Weird that having 60,000+ at a football game would create major delays with traffic. Instead of trying to leave right away, I walked to Welch and picked up a gyro, then walked back to the lots. Drove right out after that.

South grand is open now. I made it home in no time. It’s nice that is an option now. It is not a major reliever but any bit helps.
 
We left with 6 minutes left. Wife has mildly intoxicated so the walk to our car in the Haunted Forest took a tad longer. We hit the Lincolnway & Grand intersection just has the game concluded. They had a lane for folks leaving the G7 lot and a lane for the Haunted Forest folks, we had no issues and did not have to even stop once to get out of the lot.
