When it is nice, I wear brown or black dress shoes and slacks. When it is crappy, my work boots and jeans. If I am taking a customer out to dinner, depends on the location. The boots below are my absolute favorite work boots. So comfortable, I wore them all day on job sites in Cali and then caught a red-eye back to Des Moines (via Chicago) and wore these the whole time.

I've got a pair of Salomon gortex thinsulate hiking boots a few yrs ago from REI that I really like, wear them to BB etc after everything is cleared. Tingley slipons in both the ankle high and 13"(?) version to go over my work boots in the snow and yuck.

I wear Hunter rainboots with a fleece liner to work (and then change into regular shoes), like this:

There is no way to tuck your pants into them without looking like a first grader, but if you put your pants outside of them, they get muddy and wet when you're getting kids in and out of the car. These are very first world problems.

She has a pair of Keen zip side winter boots that she wears when it's slushy but they are getting old.

When it gets really cold, she busts these out.

Super warm but not good for slush. Moose hide is incredibly durable.

They are super-warm and great for slush - but only warm if you get the liners. The boots by themselves are really just rainboots (unlike the moose hide). I like them because I can wear them both in the cold and rain, depending on if I use the liner or not. Plus, they're sort of *the* stylish rainboot right now, thanks to Kate Moss. It'd be a good anniversary gift!

I wore Keen brand waterproof hiking boots commuting trains and busses in Chicago slush and ice misery for nearly a decade. Feet were never wet or even slightly cold once. I strapped crampon claws to an old worn out pair and used them on Mount Rainier ice and snow last year, still totally dry and warm.

Thing is they are actually too warm unless you're in cold icy conditions and I can't take them on a hike on just a normal 50-70 degree day like my other hiking boots. Whatever they use is actually warmer than the typical goretex but makes it less versatile.

I wear some 99% waterproof Columbia hiking boots. They are warm and look decent, but certainly not dressy -- we have a very casual office.

When I was in an office with a tighter dress code, I kept a pair of black dress shoes at my desk. If it was decent weather, would wear a different pair and ignore the pair at my desk. If crap weather, would wear snow boots in and change once there.

You win no points for guessing my major was engineering.
