I couldn't watch the rest of the first round games on the day when we lost to f*ckin' UAB back in 2015. I was so pissed off after that game I wanted nothing to do with basketball for the rest of the day.

I can relate. I managed to shake it off and get back into the tournament groove somewhat, for the night games. But during second set of games that afternoon, I basically stared at the TV in a state of numb-nitude.

Yeah, it sucked. Big time.

I was with a bunch of buddies, we rented a house to watch the first 4 days of games. Then ISU loses at 11am on thursday, and me and another hard-core ISU guy (who is on here sometimes) just went in the tank with "tourney depression" the whole weekend. Sucked.

The most frustrating thing about the A&M game is that they had to do everything just perfectly for it to happen, if they miss a jump shot or have to put in a put back they run out of time. There's also an incredibly ****** foul called on Jesperson where he's backing up and conceding a layup and doesn't touch the guy that gave them an extra point.

You can also thank that game for the new 'cylinder rule'. The things they were doing to Washpun along the sideline now gets called every single time.

We'd have gotten beat pretty handily in the next round by Buddy Hield but no sports moment will ever hurt as much as that one did.

Not only did A&M have to do everything perfectly to win, but UNI had to do everything it couldn’t do, to lose.
Instead of those live ball turnovers inbounding the ball, they would have been better off just taking a 5 second call. That way their defense could have set up.

I was absolutely distraught when Iowa lost to Baylor in the NIT Championship game. Probably ate 10 liquor ball sandwiches that day. Horrible scene.

Tyrese wasn't highly recruited while Zion had a Kansas offer. I'd call Tyrese a P6 player despite the lack of offers.
Minnesota and Nebraska offered him according to 247. Isn't the AAC the sixth P6 conference? I'm never quite sure. Cincinnati offered Haliburton so he had at least 4 P6 offers.

The Big East is the sixth P6 conference.

The American is kind of a tweener in basketball and football.

There are a few programs outside of the P6 -- Gonzaga, obviously, but Cincinnati would be another one of them -- where beating them out for a guy is just as good as beating out at least the bottomfeeders if not some of the better programs in the high-major conferences.

Tyrese gave his Top 5 as...

Cincinnati
Iowa State
Minnesota
Nebraska
Northern Iowa

3/5 in P6 conferences, one "honorary," and a historically good MVC team. That is not a bad list at all for schools to beat out for an under-the-radar 3* guy like him.

That tournament was a good example of when being a dual fan came in handy; UNI beat Wyoming pretty handily the very next day in the first round, ironically just about 24 hours after the UAB debacle to salvage the tournament for me. If they had lost the classic 12/5 upset game I likely would have just skipped the rest of the tournament.

You and a bunch of dudes rented a house to watch the NCAA's.

Sounds normal.

It's a great time, like a bachelor party for 3 days. Lots of booze, gambling, and basketball. Other years have travelled to Vegas, Chicago, etc. Some years one of the guys clears out his wife and kids and we trash his place. Seriously, we look forward to it every year, its a blast.

The UAB loss was just a horrible way to start the tourney and was a total train wreck to watch. It wasn't even like UAB played well...it was just awful.

I actually came around quicker after that game than that, um, 'other' ISU loss just because the '14-15 team just seemed to have some real fragility and I didn't see them really putting together a run. Still a shock that it went down like that.

The UNI loss was just a disaster...I have ties to UNI so really do cheer under those circumstances and that was something I think any non-ATM fan was probably at least a little sick about.

Them clowning KU that one year will always remain a favorite though.
