Hire McCarthy. Tongue-in-cheek yes but if re-thread Brett had not been trophy hunted to near death, we likely would have been in the Super Bowl.
If Zim doesn't make the playoffs this year, I think him, Spielman, and the whole front office are gone. Hopefully this doesn't happen but if it did. I would like the next coach to be in the following order:
-1A: Mike McCarthy
-1B: Norv Turner
-2: Jim Harbaugh

If Flip couldn't even get the plays called in time, at this point in the season, no wonder the Vikes moved on.
The Vikes D has just had too many key injuries on the line, LB, and DBs this year to repeat last year's performance. The O-line was bad last year, and with retirements and FA, they were worse this year. And, they drafted a DB who was injured all year instead of getting a stud O lineman. All formulas for a wild card team. Cousins is the least of their problems.
Don't forget Schumer leaving to coach the NY Giants.

I don’t think any of that will happen unless the Vikings lose out in awful fashion. Also, McCarthy? No.

That's not an inspiring list. I don't take too much issue with McCarthy, I guess. You could do worse. But Norv Turner had his shots as a head coach. And I'd take John Harbaugh over Jim at this point, not to mention that Jim Harbaugh has been adamant that he's not leaving any time soon.

I don't think Zimmer is going anywhere, but John Harbaugh? Ugh, no. You guys are complaining about the offense now, look at the Ravens. They have never had even an above average offense since he's been there.

I think he's been at least in part a victim of the giant contract they gave Joe Flacco after their Super Bowl run. Everyone knew that was a fluke or fool's gold or whatever you want to call it, and Flacco's mediocre play at the cost of an elite player has held them back ever since. Harbaugh's a good coach.

I do agree that Zimmer probably isn't going anywhere barring a collapse that leads to them missing the playoffs entirely.

They could easily lose two of their last three games.

Jesus, out of this list, I'll definitely stay with Zimmer.

Possibly. And that still might be good enough for them to back into the sixth seed. They caught a huge break with Carolina falling apart at the seams and the Redskins' and Eagles' QB injuries. I guess there's an outside shot at a miracle run by Green Bay or Tampa but I wouldn't count on either.

Can’t see that happening that soon. I’d take a look at McDaniels though.

Ugh. Buyer beware. I'd be careful about hiring anyone off Belichick's staff. Not a great track record there. The most successful one is Bill O'Brien, who currently sits a couple games above .500 for his career.

What you’re saying has some merit, but he’s not the typical Belichik coaching tree offspring. He wasn’t groomed in that system and I don’t think he has the typical Belichik asst coach temperament. I’d definitely bring him in for an interview. I’m not sure how attractive he’d be for assistants though.

Yeah, I don't know. After the Colts fiasco last year I thought he'd be radioactive around the league for a few years, plus I still suspect that he has a wink/nod agreement in place to be head coach in waiting with the Pats. But that might not be the case, and it sounds like there are already a couple teams interested in at least talking to him after the season. I guess we'll see.

I said higher than Case. I didn't say he is going to be a top 5 QB in the league.

Again, I’m not sure why. He was 11-3 with the Vikings and cousins was a .500 QB in 3 seasons with the redskins. He’s now a .500 QB with the Vikings.

This is the first time I opened this thread. I was really excited about it, read a post, and was filled with disappointment.
