OC needed to go. He appears to have no sense of how to call plays - plenty of examples to see, esp. the last two games. Probably should have been fired after not continuing to run Cook last week.

OL stinks. Need to fix it. Need two good guards ASAP. Losing Sparano hurt some too.

Cousins is Ponderesque at this point. Wow. Looked decent to start the year but like deer in headlights now, even when there's no pressure. Stuck w/ him for two more years.

Keenum was not the answer. Shurmur did wonders with him and the state of the OL last year. His role has been very underappreciated by MN fans. Hopefully, Stefanski can step up and have some sense of what to do. Can't be worse.

Too bad Teddy got hurt. They must not have felt he would be healthy; o/w, he'd have been the best option, with investing $ in the OL.

Will need to move on from some staples to shore up OL in offseason - including Griffin & Joseph. They have been terrible all year. Griffin had some other issues going on but hasn't been the same player since halfway through last season. Don't know if his plantar fasciitis is still bothering him, but no way can they pay him big $ next year.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Stefanski calling the plays. If I recall correctly, common thought was DeFilippo would be gone to a head coaching job next year or the year after and he would step into the position from within. I think they even blocked an interview request from another team to keep him here last offseason.

As a general note (cliche but truth to it), QBs generally get too much credit when things go good and generally get too much blame when things go bad. Look at the Falcons this year. Terrible line also, and I don't think Matty Ryan has fallen from his MVP status to chump that quick...

Edit: Looked it up and it was Pat Shurmur that wanted to bring him in for his OC and was denied.

I think some of you hammering on Cousins, need to sit back and look at iowa. They are the perfect example of a good oline making a QB look good. Give Cousins more than half a second to make his reads and he is a much better QB. I think he's been Richardson'd this year with all the hits he has taken, but if the Viking actually draft some guys to protect him, I believe he'll be much improved.

Flip needed to go. Offense was predictable and non creative. Flip shouldn’t even be calling plays for a D1 college.

You can have a line that sucks at pass blocking or run blocking...

You can't have a line that sucks at both. The Vikings have no "automatic" plays that go forward.

3rd and 1 QB sneak: first down
3rd and 1 pass: Incomplete
3rd and 2 pass: Incomplete
3rd and 3 pass: Incomplete
1st and goal from the 4: 2 yard run up the middle
2nd and goal from the 2: Incomplete
3rd and goal from the 2: 1 yard run up the middle
4th and goal from the 2: Incomplete
4th and 1: Stuffed up the middle...wouldn't have been converted with holding flag

9 plays where going forward was basically a "successful" play and they converted 3 (if you consider the 2 yard run and 1 yard run which I understand there's an argument there).

I don't understand on 4th and one why you'd ever run Murray. Cook is much quicker to hit the hole and can break a tackle.

I hear you, but Cousins has some culpability too. I spose one could argue that he's been so shell-shocked that he can't even stand back in a clean pocket... but, he's had times (much of the NE game) where he hasn't been pressured and looks skittish/terrible - starts games that way now.

He has no sense of feeling pressure in the pocket. I don't know if I've ever seen a QB like that - and, this as been from game 1. That's why he fumbles so much. Don't know if this can be taught/coached up, but it's a major issue - can video-game technology help? I'd still say that he's a mid-tier QB, but it's tough to pay him huge $. Guess Washington knew what they were doing.

Zim has one more chance to get the OC spot right or he'll be next.
I hope next guy will, at least, always call a QB sneak when it's 4th and a half yard to go.

He certainly has some responsibility, my point wasn't to absolve him, just to clarify that the line isn't blocking for squat which has really messed up the routes and the inability to run block makes it even worse.

I could be mistaken, but wasn't he one of those guys that uses VR to run through scenarios, or was that Case? One or both of them using VR to simulate specific defenses and looks. There was an interesting article talking about it.

Do they need to take a DT that high? The interior defensive line is pretty stout. The Seahawks were killing it on the edge last night. I agree with the first pick though.
Richardson is only on a one year deal and there is gonna be a ton of DT depth in the draft. I doubt Wilkins drops to us in round 2 but if he's available, gotta take him. LB Hanks in round 4 would be a huge steal. He's gonna be a good NFL player.

Heard John Clayton on NFL radio yesterday afternoon. He was on the Viking sideline during the game and described it as “total discombobulation” from the get-go. Not something I wanted to hear as a Vikings fan.

Lose a home game to Miami in this spot and he won't.

Love John Clayton. Especially his old ESPN commercial. Did he go into detail of how he came to the conclusion that it was "total discombobulation?".

Obviously Cousins needs to be better, but OL is terrible. Also, what Zimmer wants the offense to be is a poor fit for Cousins. If he wants ball control and expect Cousins convert a bunch of 3rd and 4-5 then they are in trouble. Cousins was good in Washington when they threw it a ton and took plenty of shots. And that was with some really bad and injury decimated offenses. If they are going to play offense like Peterson and Bridgewater are in the backfield it isn't going to work.
