One thing I have heard CMC say about the football team several times is that your best players have to play at an elite level for the team to be successful. You can not expect your role players play at an elite level. Our best players on this team are two freshman. That is great for the future, but it sucks in the present. I thought Wigginton's effort was there, but he struggled shooting and that in turn affected our offense greatly. Lard is an emotional guy and his energy can be contagious, but I think we saw the other side of that today.

I thought Nick really struggled at the point today. Our tempo was bad and he was not as aggressive as we need him to be. He is one of our few mismatches as a 6'5" point guard, but he is really inconsistent. I'm sure some of it may be his knee, but we sure need him to be more explosive to the basket.

I thought Jackson was ok, but he gets lost at times and he struggles defensively with his lack of size.

I thought Solo and Talley both competed today, but neither of them can put the team on their back.

This loss isn't coaching, it is more a function of the makeup of this team. Guys have to play better.

Eating a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and taking a nap actually made me feel better after watching this game.

Ups and downs of a young team. Today sucked but with freshmen learning on the fly and upperclassmen not picking up the slack this stuff will happen.

This is what has me worried about next year. Sure, we've got a really talented class coming in, but none of them are what you consider to be "pure shooters" at all. On top of that, we lose Jackson too.

I've always believed you MUST have a team full of guys capable of putting the ball in the hole. Last year at times, we had 4 guys on the floor that teams couldn't leave alone anywhere on the floor. This year, we have DJ and at times Wiggi, but that's about all any teams have to worry about. And next year might not be much better from the outside.

We really need Lewis to become our shooter, and then maybe add one more somehow.

I think the kid for VA is a good shooter, and not as short as Jackson. Not sure about any one else. Lewis and Long are both suppose to be shooters, but they can't seem to stay out of the dog house, and don't play good defense. Lot of forwards on this team that are really poor shooters, and it shows in the way that teams can come out and guard the perimeter without fear of someone making even a mid-range jumper.

Jackson needs to retain a little more of the leadership/scoring role. He has better help around him now than he did for the first few games. Wigginton is awesome but just doesn’t seem ready yet. That is if we want to win more now. If we want to get experience for the future then these games are going to happen this year, we just have to deal. We need to do better work off the ball to get open. More movement and better screens. Then Jackson will get his shots even if he’s face guarded. He needs to move and shoot more.

To be fair, this isnt just a 'sub par season'. We're quickly racking up some 'historically bad' games.
Did you expect a top half of the conference finish?
Anybody expecting anything above bottom 2, was being overly optimistic. Bottom of the conference teams don't go a full season without some bad losses, even "historically bad. "

This was our worst performance at home since 1959. The first season in 40 years with 3+ 15 point home losses. And we've had plenty of bad teams in that stretch.

We've had bad teams before of course, but this was not just one of the worst games in my lifetime, but in my parents' lifetime.

Some people go over the top with criticism on here for sure, but you're reminding me that people defended mcdermott to the death as well.

I'm not saying Prohm can't turn it around, its way too early to say that. Next year will be the true test. But anyone who isnt at the very least concerned after what we've seen is looking at things with some rose-tinted glasses as well.

The lowest point total is bad, but to judge the whole season, and all the players off that, is a little silly. It's still January.

Let the season play out before we start condemning everybody. Let's not forget that after a horribly ugly loss to tcu, the team came back for a dominant win over tech.

Lack of energy and excitement about the opportunity was really disappointing. The situation with Lard is troubling and I think had a big affect on the team today. Hope it's not long-term.

Shayok was a 32% 3 point shooter last year, he shot better the previous two years but on a pretty low volume.

I had a response written to this, but I thought it safer to find my cardinal tinted glasses and enjoy the rest of my evening. I will have two kids at ISU next year and I am exited they get to experience both our bball program and our football program where I think they will be the next couple of years.
