I grew up in this area and I had no idea that some of Forest City, including Winnebago Industries, was in Hancock County.

I'm old enough that I went to movies in what is now the Hobo Museum.

My wife is the Britt native. Hobo days is pretty much dead now adays. They tried to get a new hobo museum but it died due to funds.

My home county of Plymouth is pretty lame. Maybe the Blue Bunny barn in LeMars or some of the large ice cream cones.

Sioux - the tulip festival in Orange City

Plymouth County might be the round barn at the fairgrounds.

Sioux County is probably the Dutch windmill out by Diamond Vogel in Orange City.

Woodbury County is either the Sgt Floyd monument, the Sioux City amphitheater on the Missouri River or the plain crash memorial statue at SUX.

Ida County might be the Pizza Hut on the pond in Ida Grove.

Cherokee County is either the courthouse of the mental institute. I don't think there is an Adam Timmerman memorial in town yet.

Buena Vista is Storm Lake.

Benton County is probably the court house.

Why did it die? Was it the town festival or something extra the town did?

Town festival, but does crown the hobo king and queen. Old locals think it's great, everybody else sees it as inviting the homeless who get free room and board that week.

My guess would be because old people are dying and young people have no desire to go see hobo stuff.

I would say for every county under 25,000 population, it's the county courthouse.

This is the correct answer when thinking about my home county. I'd say that, or the old railroad station in town that isn't in use anymore.
