'22 QB Rocco Becht Commits

Rocco, ahem Drew Brees, Becht.

Just like in basketball, point guards have an NBA disadvantage for being 6-1 or shorter. Same with short QB's in the NFL. If Rocco was taller than 6-0 or 6-1, he would be much more highly recruited.

Drew Brees at only 6-0 wasn't/isn't too shabby. :)

Brees is clearly the exception to the rule. But Iowa State also isn’t an NFL team and it’s a little easier to get away with a shorter QB at this level.

Because its recruiting, and blue bloods sometimes like to come in late on guys if they start to blow up.
Yep, just have to hope he is loyal to the team/staff that wanted him first. But that doesn't always happen.

I don't believe QBs tend to flip as much as other recruits because they tend to be some of the first commits.

Not saying ISU is a blue blood, but they have momentum and are an established brand and program at this point. That can be worth a lot more than history.

Irrelevant, but I still think he sticks. As if I would know what he's thinking.
Blue-bloods can be intriguing to some kids.
I’m not worried about “blue bloods”. He’s very committed.

I might be a tiny bit concerned I’d his Dad’s alma mater came calling.

Oh. And I think all the “blue bloods” already have their QB committed. There aren’t really all that many of them, after all.

It happens on occasion

Russell Wilson recently

Fran Tarkenton, BIlly Kilmer, Len Dawson from old days - I suppose everyone was a few inches shorter overall?

On the other end of the spectrum, taller certainly did help these folks:

Brock Osweiller 6'7"
JaMarcus Russle 6'6"
Paxton Lynch 6'7"
Dan McGwire 6' 8" (taken in 1st round of draft that say Brett Favre go in 2nd round)

Avg NFL QB height is 6' 3"
