Dozier is the cornerstone of the Twins. They need to build around him.

We'll throw a bunch of money at him, and he will level out to be just a solid piece. That's just what the Twins do.
I was actually on the trade Dozier for some pitching court through mid-season. Now I don't know how you trade him as he is about the only one consistently producing. No way he can have this kind of impact but if he can bat .270 and hit 30HR's for the next few years he'll be the twins best player. Somehow, someway though they need to find a real Ace, not gamble on leftovers and underachievers. Nothing will change without addressing that and improving the pen.
Problem is the FA starting pitching market this year is non-existent.
The top under-30 SP that's a free agent this year is 29-year old Jeremy Hellickson.
Not that the Twins have anyone better, but any true difference maker is only going to be available via trade.
A little surprised th hear from Molitor that catcher and SS are the two offensive positions that are unsettled for next year. Thought Polanco was the answer at short. Not surprised to hear that no pitcher on the current team is penciled in for next year.
Polanco's best position is 2B. He could play SS, or maybe some 3rd...basically a utility or super-utility guy, but in terms on long-term everyday position, his arm/defense profile better at 2B.
Another layer of intrigue to the trade or don't trade Dozier dilemma.
