***2024 Minnesota Vikings***

Many of the players in last years draft were injured this past season. Kwesi also was able to trade for Hockenson. I wasn't against the Addison selection as they will need another quality receiver to take some pressure away from Jefferson.

But the team is in a near complete rebuild mode, especially on defense. They can't splurge in FA due to their salary cap. They only have 5 draft picks this season. The team needs to get rid of Cook as his costs are way too high for the value he brings this team, and the Vikings have some quality RB players behind Cook at a fraction of the price.

Frankly, this has the making of a 5-8 win season. The North is Detroit's to lose

I feel optimistic with Flores at DC though. That could have an impact. I also think they'll get 1 more FA CB that fits Flores' mold.

For all we know, Flores likes what they've got at CB and would rather have a lower cost free agent/trade than a rookie CB.

The other side of this is the front office is seeing this as a longer term rebuild and Addison is more of a sure thing. I think there is zero risk that he turns out to be a complete bust. Maybe not a star, but a floor of a solid #2 or #3. The first round caliber CBs probably have a higher risk of being a bust.

Way too early to hate on KAMs draft. His player evaluation is to be determined and We’ll see how guys like Cine, Assamoah, Ingram, and others turn out from last years draft. The Hock trade looks like it’ll turn out great. I like the free agency signings this year.

However, he has completely turned the culture in the facility around and that is a big aspect of the GM role that doesn’t get talked about enough. Hiring KOC, recruiting Flores to come be DC, getting the highest rated team as far as culture goes in the NFL is huge. He’s a damn smart guy, but he is still young in his NFL career. I am confident in his ability to learn from mistakes and lead the Vikings through this competitive rebuild.

Last year's draft is TBD, to be honest. Its going to take a lot of things to go write, but if they get healthy, Cine, Booth and Evans could all be starters long term. I think Asamoah will be nice at LB and Ed Ingram could develop into a solid Guard. If all of that happens, then last year's draft would be pretty good.

And I don't think you can say this year is off to a shaky start. If they had Addison similarly rated to CBs like Banks and Porter, Jr, then yeah, I think they should have gone CB. As it stands now, they are probably looking at CBs like Terell Smith of MN or Cory Trice of Purdue at 87. If they didn't have Banks or Porter, Jr rated that much better than those guys, but they had Addison rated way ahead of any WR possibilities at 87, then taking Addison makes a ton of sense.
I see your point. However, the Vikings got schooled in the playoffs because the defense was terrible. The Vikings were lucky at winning those close games last season. In the end, you need a killer defense and the Vikings ignored it last night. Anyway, they are not contenders so it will take some time to rebuild to get to a serious threat. For now, we will have to watch the Eagles dominate for the next 4 or 5 years.

You draft for needs in two years, not the next season. So you can't judge KAM's 2022 draft until January 2024.

KAM even kind of said that. He was asked about only having 5 draft picks and he talked about how they had a 2 year plan for 2022 and 2023 drafts and they used some capital to get more 2022 picks. I think we might be surprised and see this year be mostly offense, since last year was heavy defense. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Pretty decent chance 2 of their last 4 picks are a QB and RB.

What the vikings do at QB next year will define where this team is headed. I know there are rumors about Trey Lance, but I have zero desire for him to wear purple. I would rather draft a kid out of college.

I highly doubt they would select a RB. They have Mattison, Kene, and Chandler behind Cook.

Judging Kwesi is super premature at this point. I think he's done some good things and last years draft is TBD. He also walked into a bit of a salary cap mess and has managed that decent so far. How the front office handles Kirk and the QB situation going forward is going to make or break them

The QB situation is HUGE... as it is for every team. That comes to a boil very soon for the Vikings.

Minnesota has too good of a roster and plays in a BAD division to expect a Top 10 pick in the 2024 draft.. So unless you want to go from 23 to top 3-5 and give up your draft capital for 2-3 years... I would rather they draft a guy like Grayson McCall on day 2 and surround him with the best roster possible.

I'm kinda ok with tanking this year to get a higher pick and a possible game changer QB next year.

Let's be honest... if you are a Minnesota sports fan, first round playoff exits are a given regardless of sport.

MN wild will likely continue their first round playoff exit streak tonight, wolves already got knocked out, twins have lost 18 playoff games in a row, and the Vikings occasionally win a playoff game or two, but nothing worthwhile

In fact, the last time any major MN sports team made the finals of their respective sport was 1991.

The Twins are a mystery.... How a team can lose 18 or more playoff games in a row is impossible, yet they did it.

The Wild are pretty good and manage to play stupidly and their stars fail to show up when needed the most.

The Wolves are useless and should just move to Seattle or Vegas already.

The Vikings can always find ways to lose winnable games in the playoffs (1998 anyone?). The Vikings have not had a franchise QB since Tarkenton.... and have not seen a Superbowl since. Coincidence?

There you go, folks.... Minnesota Playoffs explained.

Why is Ringo dropping so far?
If Minnesota can make that trade with the 49ers and still add a corner like Ringo or Rush, to go along with the two other picks they acquired, I'll be pleased
