***2024 Minnesota Vikings***

Vikings started the draft with 3 picks in the first 4 rounds. They ended up with 5 guys in the first 4 rounds.

They started with 1 5th round pick, 3 6th round picks and 1 7th round pick. They now have 2 5th's, 2 6th's and 1 7th.

Can argue that they are just trading down and getting a bigger volume of picks.
The draft is a crapshoot. Prioritizing Volume isn’t a terrible MO.

Not many difference makers to be found in those rounds.

Exactly. They increased their number of picks in the "difference maker" round and didn't bank a bunch of late round picks. And with the late round picks, they actual got an extra one in the 5th instead of the 6th.

Yeah. I think its been a good draft for the Vikings. Jameson Williams becoming a superstar would ruin all that.
I'm not going to second guess this trade. It would have been a mistake for the Vikings to take him when they had much more pressing needs in the secondary. The moves that they made allowed them to address these needs with multiple picks.

The Packers were going to find a way to move up and select Williams. They were willing to and did overpay to do this. The Vikings chose to be the team to benefit from the over paying rather than allow another team to gain the advantage.

I grade Kwesis first draft a D+.
I don't know if I'd give him that low of a grade, but definitely unimpressed. TE is a big need and he has ignored that. He has made way too many trades, the first being completely stupid. Here's how I would grade each pick...

Cine: A-
Great player, but could have got him a little bit later.

Booth: A
Perfect pick!

Ingram: D
Not sure why you would take a 4th-5th round guard in round 2.

Asamoah: B
Kid will be a solid backup and could dominate on special teams. Potential starter down the road.

Evans: C
Way too early to take him. There were a dozen better corners still on the board. I do like Evans. He could be a decent backup.

Otomewo: B-
Pretty good pick. This kid has good size for a 3-4 DE but he didn't produce much in college. Can't complain much for a 5th round pick.

Chandler: A-
Great pick, although I worry what this means for Kene. We know Kene will be the starting kick returner, but might not see the field much on offense. I'm guessing that Mattison might not be around next year. Chandler was the #3 RB at UNC up until this year, so not a lot of tread on the tires.

Lowe: A
I absolutely love this pick. Been sick of Rashod Hill for a long time. Lowe will be a great backup tackle.

Nailor: C
Eh, pretty boring pick here. Practice squad player more than likely.

Not addressing TE is a head scratcher. Then, things got to the point where it seemed like he was making trades just for the sake of making trades. Like he was trying to impress somebody.

Kwesi is very analytics driven. He's not making trades just to make them. As fans, we might not see the strategy, but I guarantee that there's one at play. It may turn out to be a bad strategy, but nobody knows that yet, and our thoughts, as fans, on what they should do and who they should pick, are barely informed at best.
