***2024 Minnesota Vikings***

Seriously, why bother with some veteran journeyman? Season is over, might as well see if Hall is worthy of a roster spot and start looking at a top 10 pick.
After the draft, the front office made noises Ike Hall was the next Brock Purdy. Guess we’re going to find out how right they were.

Gotta be honest, I found that WAY hard to believe. However, if so…then we don’t have to use that ‘24 first rounder on a QB, right?

I think this is what they will do but the other choice would be to try to get someone like Trey Lance for the same "let's see what we have here" evaluation. Another similar option would be Davis Mills who was serviceable for Houston with many fewer weapons than in Minnesota. Will Grier would be intriguing as a guy to come compete with Hall and Mullens. Somebody like that.

I have no interest in trading for Ryan Tannehill or something as a one-year stopgap; I'd rather intentionally try to tank.

Yep....team isn't good enough to waste resources/picks on a guy for a year. Give me Hall and let's ride the rollercoaster with him.

Listening strictly to Creed today in honor of Kirko. With the injury, maybe we can sign him for 2 years at a discount (not fully guaranteed) and draft a QB round 1 to sit behind him next year

The Cousins injury is largely irrelevant isn't it? The Vikings were never going to win anything with or without him.

They may have snuck into the playoffs like most years with no real shot at the Super Bowl. But to say he's irrelevant is a ridiculous take.
Maybe winning one playoff game? I thought the super bowl was the goal. That is irrelevance IMO just my opinion.

Despite what people think, the same goes for basically every other QB not named Mahomes or one of the guys still on their rookie deals with stacked rosters around them. All the guys now transitioning to having a massive cap hit are on their way to joining the Kirk, Dak, etc. tier. The Eagles and Bengals rosters are still really good this year, but they're going to start paying the piper soon enough. That's the way the game is.

The Vikings absolutely would have a punchers chance in a weak NFC. They were playing as well as anyone in the NFC. Cousins hasn't been the problem for the past three years, it's been a horrible defense, and finally now they are starting to punch above their weight in terms of cap allocation thanks to Flores and some guys stepping up. In Cousins' playoff starts through his career his defenses have given up almost 30 ppg. There aren't very many QBs in the league that are going to have a good winning percentage going against playoff caliber defenses and having to score 30 to win.

But, it doesn't matter. The Kirk era is likely over, and I'm 100% fine with that. The odds of getting to a SB with him is very small. He's good, but he's not HOF lock caliber, which is what it takes if you are going to be to have a franchise QB level cap hit.

Not sure that I put much stock in it, but there is some twitter speculation that Arizona's Dobbs could be heading to Minneapolis.

Arizona coach said today Kyler or Clayton tune would start Sunday. He said after the game yesterday Dobbs would still be the starter. So maybe something to that.

Dobbs is fine, but I'd rather just ride with Jaren Hall and see what he's got. Dobbs isn't leading this team to a Super Bowl, so I'd rather see what Hall has and get better draft position

They shouldn't trade for anyone. IF they are done with Kirk (I hope they resign him), they have zero plan for the future. Let Hall play. He'll have 9 games to show if he has any possibility of being the future. They should also try to trade Hunter before the deadline tomorrow - especially if they could get a team to give them a 2nd rounder. Get all the ammo you can get to try and move up to get your franchise QB. Again, this is if they are done with Kirk.

Tanking is something that is easy for fans to get behind, because they're not going anywhere. Much more difficult to convince players and coaches whose careers might depend on it. Also, I guarantee you that getting Justin Jefferson to re-sign is something that's coloring the decisions of Vikings brass on this. He's going to be back in a couple weeks, and they're in the middle of a winnable stretch of games. I'll be surprised if they don't bring in a veteran to at least try to keep this team in the playoff race.

My opinion is play Hall. You drafted him to develop as a starter. It might be earlier than intended but you have the perfect opportunity to see whether he looks the part or not. Of course maybe they already know the answer after watching him practice for the last 3-4 months

I agree, tanking obviously is not a good look, but the Vikings have 2 very big reasons to lean on. Let the season play out, say they looked at options, but nothing worked out and let this season ride out.
