Good move by the Twins. 30 million for 3 years is stepping up a little, but Vasquez was about the only experienced catcher left out there. The position was a definite need and they got it done.
Clear upgrade over Gary Sanchez. Time to break the bank now for Correa.
I know Correa's potential but often last year he just seem to underwhelm me based on how much we were paying him. I hope I'm wrong if we keep him.
I don't think it was a bad move. I just wonder about his durability. He hasn't had issues I believe in the past but once you get over 30, your body goes to sh*t. (Maybe that's just my experience).
Read something interesting about Vasquez. Apparently the last few years, he's been a fantastic pitch framer on high pitches, but not so good on the corners and low. Jeffers is a better pitch framer on the corners and low than he is the high pitches. Could make for a good platoon in that sense.
I don't care how good a player he is, 13 years is freaking ridiculous.
Can’t blame the Twins for not going beyond 10 years. I’m afraid Swanson will also want a similar long term deal. Sometimes you have cash in your chips and back away from the table.
