MLB: ***2024 Minnesota Twins***

Can I just get off my chest that I have my nutcup firmly in place for this team? Obviously I hope for the best but all these close wins against bad teams have me worried. Especially with Buxton coming back down to earth like he has. Good teams find a way. But I’m terrified there’s a regression to the mean that’s gonna happen at some point coupled with the white Sox finally figuring out whatever the hell is going on over there and we’re gonna be fighting tooth and nail just for the 7th WC spot at best. Ok enough of being a negative Nelly.

The runs scored/allowed so far suggest the White Sox are the team to expect to regress more than the Twins. Either Chi or Cle could turn it around but right now the Central looks weak and I think there's a good chance the Twins comfortably get into the playoffs.

However, I don't think this team is built great for the playoffs but anything can happen.

Putting Buxton and his speed behind the relatively plodding Arraez would be a mistake, Arraez is a good fit for the 2 spot.

The opposite side of the argument is a bloop and a blast is better than a blast and a bloop. Buxton will clearly hit more HR than Arraez and it'd be nice if less were solo shots. On the basepaths, the effect is mainly on SBs which Buxton isn't getting a ton of anyway. Arraez should be scoring even if he is slow on any hit where Buxton would try to go 1st to 3rd or score.

Wow Detroit with bases loaded top of the 9th and 1 out....Miguel Cabrera pinch hits and takes a looking strikeout. Can the Twins dodge another one?

Interesting article about the Twins approach at the plate early in the season:
Interesting stat that the Twins are one of the leaders with batters having a 1-0 count, but the reason they are winning is their Moneyball pitching. Gray, Bundy, Ryan, Smith, and Duran give this staff a chance.

Well, Duffey might take the heat but that one was on offense. Woof.

That offense last night was good but If Buxton could start hitting bombs into the third deck again, that would great….

As Bobby Witt Jr keeps running around the bases on the Twins, he thanks his lucky stars that he's not stuck in the minors like an older top pick we know.

I will be curious to see how many unvaccinated Twin players will not be able to make the trip to Toronto. Could be big bucks for some to sit home unpaid.

Good thing their nice and healthy so they have quality depth to fill in…. Oh wait.

Royce to the IL but just a bone bruise, so nothing too serious.

A better outcome than another ACL surgery, but this type of bruise typically involves a painful 4 week recovery. Add in a rehab assignment and it's July before he is back in the lineup.

I'd be very surprised if Royce is not back before July, but admittedly, I'm no doctor.

Canada isn't allowing an exception for sports peeps on their vaccine to enter requirement this year. Hadn't thought about this and the Twins. Yanks had a couple of guys, Judge per the chatter, that would have missed three series and nine games in Toronto against a big rival for the pennant but Judge, and maybe Rizzo to, got the shot. I was prepared to be pissed off at them. Wonder who the Twin players are, they are being mum on that, and whether these are significant guys or backups.

Kitty Kaat with a pretty amazing Twin stat today. In 49 Twins games thus far, Rocco has had 45 different starting line-ups.
