2023 US Open

The key to beating Spencer was to get him late in the match. He has no cardio/conditioning. If he didn't tech/pin you in the 1st, you have a chance. Caleb Smith was down 9-0 after 1 yesterday and lost 9-4.

Also Spencer said recently in an interview that he wasn't hurt at NCAA and not take away what Ramos did and Spencer Lee's dad says in the Flo interview that Spencer wasn't 100% at NCAA!!!

Someone is making bad decisions. It might be Spencer that is making bad decisions for himself.

There was no way he was going to win the US spot against Suriano, Richards or Gilman in his current state.

Good guy, but some bad decision making somewhere in regards to him

Err, so firstly, we don't know all the details of Spencer's recovery and rehabilitation process, so we can't be sure whether or not it was too early for him to return to the mat.
Secondly, it's not fair to assume that the decision was made solely for the purpose of beating ISU. (I mean, let's be real here, wrestlers are some of the toughest athletes out there. They push themselves to their limits and beyond in order to succeed, and Spencer is no exception. It's possible that he was simply itching to get back to doing what he loves and couldn't wait any longer....)
Let’s put the ISU dual aside for a second. Anyone remember the Soldier Salute? You know…the tournament where it looked like Spencer told his corner he was hurting and couldn’t go, yet Iowa sent Ayala out there anyway, which would have meant Spencer forfeiting?

Now…back to the ISU dual, how much Spencer struggled late in that match and taking what we all witnessed at the Soldier Salute. It’s pretty safe to assume they sent him out against ISU without considering his best interests.

They’ve been ******* him up for years.

Had he gotten past Suriano, I would have hated seeing him against Zane. Ooof.

I agree with what you’re saying about Spencer and bad decisions, but you’re interpreting that interview wrong.

He said that his health was not the reason he lost that match, but in that interview he definitely said he was not 100% at NCAA. He was attempting to not make an excuse for the specific loss and give credit to his opponent.

He was definitely hurt at NCAA, and has probably not been 100% nearly ever in his college career. Maybe post season his true freshman year, but even then he was only barely 1 year removed from an ACL tear.

I might have. And people would have to be stupid to think he was 100%. He was good in a 2-3 minute match, but faded hard in the last half

I can only imagine the "negative" recruiting that happens against the hawks about how they use guys up etc. Those two do not give two ***** about what you do when you are done or how you feel 20 years from now as long as you deliver on their mat.

I think T&T probably care, but just don't understand. When they were competing, they psychotically went 100 mph 24/7 because they came into college fresh and healthy. Today's elite HS wrestler is now coming in with almost 100 matches per year, elite club practices and a full-on grind. So those 2 just haven't grasped the concept that collegiate wrestling has changed drastically. And its costing them, especially in March

Does anyone know if Adrien Meza has a younger brother? I was looking through the U15 Freestyle brackets and saw an Aaron Meza who trains with Monster Garage/Sunkist in the semis and wasn't sure if they were related or not.
