Hurcacz takes the 3rd set with the first service break of the match for either player. Oh, what could have been.

Good to see that fight to at least make this halfway interesting. Novak is very annoyed out there right now. Hurkacz needs to force the action because he can take this to a fifth set.
Hurkacz’s game is so pedestrian besides his serve. As soon as that serve dipped, Novak gets the break.
Also Novak can be really whiny when playing against players with really good serve, or when game conditions are not good.
Match play has been pretty boring overall with mostly really short points.
Novak better improve his game rest of the tournament (assuming he wins this match) otherwise he is done.

So we typically talk mostly men's tennis in here, but I have to say the women's tournament for Wimbledon has been absolutely fantastic imo. Fun matches, and I have zero idea who is going to win this thing.
This Eubanks story is so cool. Guy is just having fun out there.
Alcaraz and Djokovic both ended up with very tough draws. No big upsets in their corners.
Alcaraz having to go through potentially Berrettine, Rune, Medvedev and Djokovic to win the title. Djokovic potentially having to go through Hurcacz, Rublev, Sinner and Alcaraz.
I just can't get over Sinner's path to the semifinals....

I've never seen more than 90 seconds of tennis on TV in my life but was at the dentist today and it was on so figured why not give it a try. It was the Eubanks match and man it didn't take long to root for this guy. Love the passion.

Add to this the incredible coincidence that he is the 3rd African American man to reach the Wimbeldon Quarterfinals and today would have been the 80th birthday of one of the other 2 African American men (Arthur Ashe) to do so.

Eubanks is so refreshing to watch. Moves well for his height. And both players just got around to serving without endless toweling and ball bouncing.
I love the run he's been on, but is he that much different than other solid American players for the last 20 years? Big serve and big forehand, OK mover, then not much else.
Agree with the quick play, that's nice to see.
Definitely needs to keep evolving his game for sure. I agree most Americans play the same way. I like the spark Tiafoe and Eubanks play with. They are having fun out there, which is good to see. Frances needs to get back to the fun a little more as you can tell he’s started pressing and putting pressure on himself ever since he started really making a charge into the top 10. Eubanks has a pretty decent serve and volley which I would love to see utilized more.
I agree, though he seems to accept who he is. I felt some of the Big server Americans you mentioned didn't play as aggressive as they should. Isner should of came into net way more often than he did. Eubanks seems to know If he gets a forehand go ahead and crack it. Long rallies aren't your friend when you're +6"5. Eubanks seems to be an incredibly smart player that's exceeding his talent

I feel like Tiafoe has broken the mold a little at least. Has a great net game to go along with the serve and forehand.
The most disappointing thing to me about American players is they seem to develop later than the rest of the world. Eubanks is breaking through, but he's already 27. Tommy Paul is having a great year....at 26. Taylor Fritz...25. Now we've already got 3 players better than them that are all 20-21 in Alcaraz, Sinner and Rune. I don't know that I see an American currently playing that's capable of winning a grand slam. Tiafoe would be the closest and could maybe steal a U.S. Open or Australian, but it's going to be a long shot. There's a ton of good players on hard courts even after Djokovic is done.
At least some players are able to play further into their 30s nowadays. To be seen whether these Americans are able to do that.
Svitolina with a huge 3 set win over Swiatek. Iga's forehand seemed to be sailing on her. Her shot would often be a foot or 2 beyond the baseline.

Svitolina's comeback has been impressive to watch. Again, the women's tournament has been really fun to watch. Hoping Jabeur can take this title, but I honestly have zero idea who I am picking to take the women's title at this point.
