That would be a double whammy for a number of Hawk fans who want Mad Fran to get the ND job so they can replace him with DeVeries.

As a Notre Dame fan, I'd be very happy with Devries. I hope he brings his son too.
He would absolutely bring his son. Drake is a full rebuild next year regardless and life is going to be much harder on Tucker if he comes back.
Georgetown won’t hire a white coach. They will go after Cooley or Penn States coach.
With how Texas has ended the season, how can they not hire the interim coach for the full time gig?
They are Texas, therefore stupid, so I wouldn't be so sure.

Because Texas has to go after a name every time instead of a good coach. Football, basketball and every other sport they just can’t deal with having a good coach . He has to be the flashy hire
He won with a roster built by another coach. His head coaching resume before this is terrible. They can get someone more proven.
With Houston, Cincy and USF coming to Big12, the ability for Wichita State to get to the NCAA Tournament got easier. But the AAC seems like it could become a 1 bid league,
I haven't followed why Turgeon got the boot with the Terps. Not sure if it was: MD expectations, style of play or personality. But he had success at A&M, so he might get another P5 look. Texas Tech would be a good option, but if he has dreams of someday being KU's coach maybe coaching at another Big12 schools may not make sense. But as we grow to super conferences, that might be less a deal. It's never been an issue in the SEC.
Turgeon might be a good option for Ga Tech, Georgetown, Cal.
Seems like a step down to a school you coached at previously. So I wouldn't put it at 100%.
Can't think of situations where the interim coach is hired permanently and has had long-term success. The 3 recent ones I can think of are: Mike Davis (Indiana), Pat Knight (Tech) and Greg Gard (Wisky). Gard has had decent success, but he could be on the hot seat next year.
Steve Fisher might have had the most success at Michigan & SDSU.
Sure, but "proven" is a crapshoot anyway. Plenty of "proven" hires who don't work out. They have someone they know has done well there, right now
