***2023 Masters Thread***

I’ll stay on Tiger and Jack’s side on this topic. They seem to know the sport pretty well.

LOL. You do understand Jack Nicklaus helped lead a revolt against the PGA that led to a competing tour called the APG that merged back with the PGA after some concessions were made.

I knew that!

If you think Sam Burns is better than Dustin Johnson I think its best we just move on from this topic.

Sam Burns has 5 wins in the last 2 years, including just winning 2 weeks ago. In his win 2 weeks ago, he beat in match play Cameron Young, Adam Scott, Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler. He's in the Top 10 in the OWGR.

DJ has one LIV win in that time, edging out some guy named Anirban Lahiri.

If you take DJ just over the last 2 years, he's not been a top 20 player. He just hasn't. And Burns recent history against DJ's isn't particularly close either.

LIV was lucky this weekend that late surges by Phil and Reed kept their only headline from being Brooks collapsing to a fat L.

That said, at a comp level, I don't think LIV has a talent issue. They have a "product sucks" issue compared even to the PGA, but that part is forgotten when they're all in the same tournaments together.
It's a severe depth of talent issue, IMO. They have a few really good players, but nowhere near the depth.

I know this is a common thought with LIV but I couldn't disagree with it more. They have the cash to invest more and wait longer for the return, but they aren't going to keep doing that for ***** and giggles. If they don't get any return from it they'll cut it and move on.

Also the Saudis are fickle. They will get sick of golf soon enough and probably start a pickleball league and try to get Tennis stars to move over.
