*** 2023 Chicago Bears ***

They really, really believed Mitch Trubisky was the ONE.

Think about that.

And Fields, and Cutler, and....

Lets be honest though. They aren't the only ones drafting stiffs in the first round who totally sucks. Have you seen Zach Wilson play? Jamarcus Russell? Lots of first round whiffs by teams not named the Bears.

The McCaskeys do know what they are doing. Their number one priority is to make money, and as long as they are doing that it is a success. Winning isn’t important to them. The same was true in Cincy and Arizona until the old men stepped aside and let the younger generation take control. That happened in Detroit and look how much better that franchise is doing.

The McCaskeys are rich because of the Bears, unlike some other owners who are rich because of some other business they had. So long the team make them money and fund their lifestyle, they are happy.

I’ve blocked it from my mind, could someone explain why the Bears went and got Trubisky? Dude is the definition of a stiff, and the Bears reached for him. There’s a lot going wrong in that organization, but that mess is the stinker that keeps on stinking.
Because he had good " measurables", didn't matter what he did in college or that he was only 3rd Team All-Acc.

Let's face it, this organization is complete inept, we have almost 40 years of proof now.

This Eberflus clown has to go. In his defense though they didn't give him much of a chance. He's suppose to be a defensive guy and what's the first thing they do when he gets here? Get him some defensive help? Nope, trade away Mack and then Roquan Smith.

So in 2021 we have a good defense and a young, struggling offense, fast forward 2 years and we have the worst D in the NFL and the worst O in the NFL.

I don't think they know what they are doing but they don't have to to make money in today's NFL. Their market and tv contract assures them a profit, regardless of the mess they put on the field.

I think I would say they have little incentive, outside avoiding disdain, to get things right and put a winning product on the field.

Yeah, that’s a good way to put it.

The Chicago Cubs Way for decades.

Get the fans to the Friendly Confines and take their cash while the on field product stunk.

A bit of apples to oranges, but getting paid no matter the wins and losses.

At least the Cubs were the "loveable losers". The Monsters of the Midway have a marketing issue when they suck.

And they suck. I'm ready for the expansion team to come in. Bring back the AAFL Chicago Rockets name and take over Soldier Field when the Bears leave.

I've been a fan since I was shitting my diapers. I literally do not remember a time before watching the Bears. About done with them

I get it. I'm one of those "once a fan always a fan" types as "true" fans don't give up on their team. But when the rot is at the top you feel like you are supporting people, and helping them profit, when they don't give a ****. And if they don't give a ****, why should you?

My hope is the family eventually sells, ala WGN, and the Bears turn **** around. If it happened with the Cubs it can happen anywhere.

He did win an MVP

Thing is I don't believe Virginia and family don't want to win.

From top to bottom the Bears don't seem to have any idea on how to actually do it.

Now they can't sell hope either. It's a town of "used to be". Even the act of selling history is wearing thin

John Fox had tired of Cutler, new GM wanted to get his QB of the future. They were set to draft third but gave four picks (LMFAO) to the 49ers to move up one spot to get the True Biscuit.

The team only evaluated Trubisky and Mahomes as their first round choices. They reportedly did not even meet with Deshaun Watson coming out of Clemson with a CFP victory. Mahomes was viewed by the Bears as a system QB in the Air Raid coming out of Tech, had just gone 5-7 and missed a bowl game. Trubisky had gone 8-5 with a more conventional spread offense, and the Bears loved his accuracy in the draft, but the kicker was that he only was a starter for one season. It was rumored that MT hit it off better with George McCaskey in a pre-draft dinner meeting than the one with Mahomes. But I think it was a close call.

The rest was infamy: he started part way through the season against the head coach wishes, they missed the playoffs, John Fox got fired. Mahomes thrived so they hired the KC OC, Matt Nagy. His OLine was bad, his accuracy and mechanics went to ****, and he never recovered. another quarterback soul ground to dust by the mill wheel that is the Chicago Bears.

That's not even the worst move they made.

IMO the worst move of the last several seasons was the trade for Khalil Mack. While it made the 2018 season possible, it was the type of move you do to put yourself OVER the top rather than doing before even being close to it. In doing so they gave up multiple first round picks and committed 20+ million per year to him. It was the type of boneheaded move (one among many) that's typified the franchise over the last 3+ decades.

Mack was a great player but there was NOTHING to suggest the roster (at the time) was good enough, or close enough to competing, to make that kind of move.
How about that same draft as Trubisky they passed on Mixon, Kamara, Godwin, Kupp, Hunt, and James Connor to draft a tight end from Ashland Collge who ended up with about 10 career catches.

Four G! D! picks. Insanity for that guy. Plain old lunacy.

Bear fans need to start wearing paper bags on their heads, and bring signs that demand the McCaskey's sell the franchise.

Mahomes had real issues to fix coming out of college, he just happened to land with maybe the best QB coach of all time in Andy Reid and his other insane abilities were unlocked. He gets drafted by the Bears and it's certainly possible the results would have been worse than Trubisky's. Had Trubisky ended up with Andy Reid, maybe he's a 2 time league MVP.

It's not some fluke that the Bears haven't had a real franchise quarterback (maybe ever?). Go back through all of their non interim head coaches since Ditka:

Dave Wannstedt: DC for Cowboys before getting the job, no previous HC experience
**** Jauron: DC for Jaguars, no previous HC experience
Lovie Smith: DC for the Rams, no previous HC experience
Marc Trestman: bounced around as OC, no previous HC experience
John Fox: defensive minded HC, several previous HC stops
Matt Nagy: OC for Chiefs, no previous HC experience
Matt Everflus: DC for Colts, no previous HC experience.

You look at that list of coaches and is it any wonder that the Bears have typically been much better on defense than offense during that time?
