I'm always highly skeptical of reports of interviewing during the season. However, this is one of those paydays that even the most grounded and ethical coaches could possibly make an exception for.

With the portal opening on Dec 4, I could see where A&M wants a coach hired by Dec 1 to keep a talented roster from looking.

I would be curious if coach buyouts have a clause or escalator penalty if a coach jumps during the season.

He's the highest paid coach in the AAC at $2.5M but that's still absolutely nothing compared to A&M money.

Thought I would share this, apparently the Liberty head football coach Jamey Chadwell forgot to turn his location settings off before tweeting. Pretty big speculation going on that he is next man in for Mississippi State

Willie Fritz at Tulane was very vocal about them not hiring the new AD from within. I'd expect he'll have wandering eyes this winter before he's too old to cash that last big check.

Sort of related, but Campbell was hired in 2016 and I think he and Kirby at Georgia are the only 2 remaining at Power 5 schools.

Don't know if it is true but heard a radio guy this morning say that their is rumblings of Arizona's Jedd Fisch to A&M. Could be B.S. though.

Yep, University of Arizona (not just Athletic Dept.) is 240 million in the red right now so don't know how much money they have to throw around for facilities, staff, etc. to try and keep Fisch.
