No surprise, ISU maintained its #7 on Parrish's Top 25 (and 1) -- what's funny is, summary of Iowa State's most-recent win is repeated on #8 Kansas blurb. :D

It is finally happened. Kansas is now nothing more than a cheap foil for the Cyclones!

I was cheering for Houston. I still think our chances at the title are slim.

Texas can go fk off.
Same here. I don't care that much about winning the conference. We can't affect what other teams do and it's a little less meaningful now with the unbalanced schedules. I care more about our individual record. 11-7 or even 12-6 is definitely in play now and those would be great seasons with such a tough schedule in the toughest conference.

I think Houston winning it actually helps our chances to get Omaha. If they win it, it likely means they're going to give KU a loss or two.
I know Omaha is closer for the vast majority but I want to be in Indy. Much better city for this type of event and closer to me lol

This. They play one big guy, 7' 215 lb Warren Washington, almost 30 minutes per game, and basically 7 other guards.
I watched them yesterday for the first time (lost 85-78 @ TCU), wasn't that impressed. They are a jump-shooting team, they're like BYU in the sense that if a bunch of them get hot the score could probably get out of hand quickly, but I couldn't tell what they were doing defensively, and the offense featured a lot of Pop Isaacs hero-ball. I think our frontcourt has a big opportunity against them. Against Horned Frogs they shot 52% overall and hit 14/28 threes, still lost by seven. TCU didn't even shoot that well (43%) and still hung 85 points on them.

I agree, and that's something I wouldn't even think seriously about until there are maybe 4 games left and we were still in contention. However, that kind of thing immortalizes a team, so I'd love to see them get it.

Yeah, theyre 5-2. If they go 5-2 again over the next 7 games, then lets start getting excited.

I'll drink the kool-aid if we win both of these next road games. Baylor is good again, not National Championship good now that you don't need a bag-man to pay players but that will be a tough game that we won't be favored in. Texas is down but they are still good enough to beat anyone in the Big 12 on any given night especially at home.

Here's what's unique about ISU this year to me: they remind me of Larry's good teams, minus the obvious All-Americans. This is a deep, athletic, versatile team. Usually a team, even a good team, relies on imposing its pace on the opponent. This team beat a good Houston team in a total rock-fight, low-scoring, bad-shooting, defensive struggle. They then turn around a couple weeks later and the same team beats a good KU team in a track race, high-scoring shoot-out where both teams scored nearly 50 points in the second half. Most teams can't play such disparate styles of ball and still beat good teams.

Just realized Texas is 1-3 at home. Beat Baylor by 2, lost to UH, TT, UCF. Yeesh.
They appear to be the standard underachieving Texas team that thinks they can walk in and win based on the name on their jersey, and the level of effort is based on the name on the other jersey. We'll probably get their best shot due to our ranking.

It was fun to watch Texas blow that game multiple times on its home court.

But that hurt Iowa State's chances at the Big 12 title on net.

At Texas was one of the major hurdles Houston still had to go over.

There are others, sure, but the Cows winning last night would have been helpful.

I see several potential losses for Houston the rest of the way. Here is their schedule:

at KU
OSU
at Cinci
Texas
Iowa State
at Baylor
Cinci
at OU
UCF
KU

There is potential for 4 more losses in there (KU x2, at Baylor, at OU, and maybe 1 of ISU/Texas).

Still a LONG way to go.

I watched their game against Houston the other night and was kinda surprised at how quiet it was. Definitely could've been the ESPN mic's not picking up the crowd well but just didn't seem anywhere close to the atmosphere of most places playing against a top 5 team
