2022 RB Cartevious Norton Commits!

All that and he is the player that drags down ISU's class ranking. That is why recruiting rankings have to taken with a large grain of salt. Having a kicker, punter or long snapper in your class - even if elite - will generally negatively impact your class ranking.
Who h considering how important they are is so incredibly dumb

Me: hey guys! Big time running back coming this weekend.

CF: that’s neat, but punters….
How many games have we lost this year because the running game was sub par and how many because the punt/kick off game was sub par? If I have a choice of fixing the hole in my roof or replacing my 64” tv with a 72” tv call me excited about fixing the roof.

Just get Flex Seal,....Phil recommends it!

I'm excited for Norton as well, but RB is definitely not the immediate need that P is. Hopefully the Perkins kid is legit. All we need to do is look across the state to see the impact a good Punter can have on games. Especially if you have a good defense and a ball control offense...field position is huge.

I think his point is that this is a thread about a RB; a specific running back. I contributed to the punter conversation on here, but he isn't wrong that punter talk in a thread about a particular RB recruit is off topic.

So to get back on topic can Norton punt?

The silly thing about this tread going sideways is getting a stud running back like a Montgomery or Hall is the difference between an OK offense and and ELITE offense. So recruiting stud RB's is the life blood of a program. Bringing in Norton would be significant. Especially since he is 210- we could use a bigger back in this year's class. We haven't brought in a bigger back since Hall & Brock.

Sure special teams are important and we have given a scholarship to a top HS punter from OH. But I would imagine we are also looking at a few Iowa HS punters who Campbell could convince to come to campus as preferred walk-ons. Same goes for FG kicker.

I finally watched his highlights. He seems to hit the hole quick and he finishes his runs with authority. It was nice to see him catching some passes and getting upfield as well.

Agreed - his first run of the game posted above he looks like Breece or Bijan or any other big back that has the ability to both break tackles and truck over defenders.

He benefits from a stud dual threat QB and an outstanding OL but yes he's a one cut north south power back with nice excelleration for his size.

I honestly think most of the punting focus in this threat comes from absolute faith in CMC bringing in studs to carry the ball where punting has been abysmal.

Don't know about that but he was an underground sanitation expert.
