2022 NCAA FB Coaching Carousel

In the NFL, offensive coordinator experienced head coaches are way more successful.
There are more of them, but are they really more successful? None of the longest tenured coaches (Bellichek, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Carroll) were offensive coaches. Andy Reid is the only offensive guy that has been around a while.

To win in 2022 and beyond. You need:
1) As much success on first down as possible (Throwing is more efficient at gaining yards than running)
2) Explosive plays. It's hard to gain yardage, so getting 20+ yards in 1 play is FAR more efficient
3) Getting pressure on the opponents QB (When pressure increases, passing decreases)

2/3 are offensive categories. My favorite stat for this kind of analysis is Football outsiders DVOA. Their top 5 offenses are: KC, PHI, MIA, BUF, and CIN. Everyone outside of Miami is a contender. MIA would be in the conversation if they played in the NFC. On the other side of the ball. DVOA's top 6 defenses are DAL, SF, NE, BUF, DEN, NYJ. NE, DEN and NYJ are FAR from contention. Only DAL and BUF have a shot at the Super Bowl. DAL though is likely headed to the 5 seed and faces 3 straight road games to make a Super Bowl

Safe and cheap option I think. Considering how close this is with the signing day, this probably makes the most sense. Leach has not been buried yet and we don't know when - it will be a poor taste to announce the new hire if they end up hiring someone outside before he is buried.

It was about the only thing they could do in the situation they were in.

Vegas might not be the best place for Petrino.
Right? There were already rumors of what he was doing in Branson in the offseason at Missouri State, now he's going to kick that up about a thousand notches but, of course, he's 'changed' because his family is so important to him.
