***2022-23 MBB General Thread***

I feel like we hear people almost every year, say, this isn't a KU team of old and I don't think they will win the conference and then somehow Self makes a couple changes or does something to motivate the team and all the sudden they have a big winning streak and win the conference and are a #1 seed.

When all you have is 5 stars that Adidas hand-picked for you every year, this happens more times than not.

Kansas is so mystifying to me, obviously just a better matchup for us specifically than others, but there are 3 teams in conference I would rather not run into in a tournament situation than them, yet they might end up 1 overall in NCAA tournament.

Agreed. Kansas' guards don't pressure the ball 3 point line extended (as much as other teams), allows us to get into our offense/paint touches. Conversely, those other 3 teams put enormous pressure on our guards away from the hoop and we really struggle get any consistent flow on offense.

They do get some 5 stars but not at the rate of other top schools and several of their 5 stars haven't really done anything while at KU. If you look at a lot of their best players recently, a lot of them were 4 star kids that weren't sure fire stars. Frank Mason, Devonte Graham, Ochai Agbaji and Christian Braun, this year Jalen Wilson and Dajuan Harris. This year is different because Grady **** is a really good player for them.

Looked like Grady Dik's 19 point performance up shined Miles (13pts. 4-14) and Wilson (7 pts. 3-11 FG) in front of all the NBA scouts last night. Did anyone hear Fran talking about Dik likely being a one and done? I guess I hadn't thought about that. Also didn't realize he was 6'8".

Yeah, he is a projected lottery pick. 6'8 long arms and a deadly three point shooter. He is going to have a long career in the NBA.

I think he was pretty widely considered a one and done type during his recruitment.

Anybody else notice how Texas and Baylor get to play Kansas and Kansas State back to back?

Must be nice to cut down on travel and get more rest, meanwhile we have to make numerous trips to Oklahoma and Texas and have to fly back every time.

He's a really interesting player. Doesn't really physically dominate but just kind of looks like he jogs around and gets buckets from wherever he feels like.

The refs in the KSU Baylor game are scared to call a foul on KSU. KSU mugging the hell out of Baylor and nothing.

Baylor was the hottest team in the big 12 and maybe the country just 3 days ago, and then got absolutely bamboozled in the second half against Kansas, and tonight just look held interested.

Whoa, did we know Jess Settles works for ESPN? Doing color tonight for TT @ OU in front of dozens of fans.

Marquette now in the driver's seat to win the Big East. Possibly the other high seed to get sent to Des Moines.

So that means we'd get Kansas-16, 8-9 and then Marquette-14, 6-11.
