2/2 notes:

We will be the higher seed in our first Big 12 Tourney game if we are seeded anything except 5, 6, 9, or 10. We could reasonably end up anywhere between 3 and 7, so we very well could end up an underdog in our first game. The only seed we could get that we should win without worry is the 7 seed (facing 10 seed TCU).

  • Ashley is 167 points away from 3000 for her career. There are 5 regular season games remaining. If we play 9 more games (hopefully the minimum), she'd have to average 18.6 ppg to get there. She's averaging 20.2.
  • Emily is remains #2 in single-season FT% at 92.8%. She'll have to make her next 13 in a row to pass Bridget Carleton at 93.9% (I've been saying Brynn Williamson, but she's #3 -- I grabbed the wrong sharpshooter).
  • Emily is 15 behind Wilson for #3 in career assists. She is 171 behind #1 Moody and 145 behind #2 Medders, both of whom she will catch next season as long as nothing keeps her from playing a normal number of games (Emily has 161 this season so far).
  • Emily is 18 assists away from cracking the top 10 for a single season. She is, of course, already #1 on that list.
  • Emily is 60 points away from becoming the second Cyclone this season to join the 1000 point club.

  • Emily is 10 behind Wilson for #3 in career assists. She is 166 behind #1 Moody and 140 behind #2 Medders, both of whom she will catch next season as long as nothing keeps her from playing a normal number of games (Emily has 166 this season so far).
  • Emily is 13 assists away from cracking the top 10 for a single season. She is, of course, already #1 on that list.
  • Emily is 50 points away from becoming the second Cyclone this season to join the 1000 point club.
  • Morgan is still #3 in career FG% at 58.6% (Welle is #1 at 64.1% and Jaspers is #2 at 61.9%).
 
As was mentioned elsewhere, Ashley is now #2 in the Big 12 in career points. Griner is #1 with 3283. If ISU played a maximum number of games (4 regular season, 3 in the Big 12 tournament, 6 in the NCAA tournament), Ashley would have to average 32.6 ppg to pass Griner, so that isn't happening.
 
2/23 notes:

    • 7 more games: 17.1 ppg to get 3000
    • 6 more games: 20.0 ppg
    • 5 more games (the minimum): 24.0 ppg
  • Emily has fallen back down to #3 in single-season FT% at 91.8%. If she makes her next two FT, she'll be back up to #2.
  • Lexi just needs two FT attempts to qualify for the single-season list. She's right behind Emily at 91.7%.
  • Emily is 9 behind Wilson for #3 in career assists. She is 165 behind #1 Moody and 139 behind #2 Medders, both of whom she will catch next season as long as nothing keeps her from playing a normal number of games (Emily has 167 this season so far).

Red's record post made me go look at one other statistic. Assists. Last year when buckets were falling Ryan had a record 249. This year so far she has 181. Obviously she will have at least three more games to add to it, but that should really jump out at folks. The differential is an ave of 7.11 over 35 games last year to 6.7 over 27 this year.

Shooting percentage comparison to last year (2021-22/2022-23). I show some shots taken numbers fully realizing the ladies have at least three more games.

Joens .409/.423 (same average # of shots per game as last year)
Ryan .471/.438 (1.5 fewer shots per game this year)
Donarski .381/.375 (one fewer shots per game this year)
Kane .613/.629
Diew .408/.370 (taking 1.5 more per game this year)
 
3/7 notes:
  • Ashley is 43 points away from 3000 for her career. She's averaging 21.0 ppg. If we play:
    • 4 more games: 10.8 ppg to get 3000
    • 3 more games: 14.3 ppg
    • 2 more games (the minimum): 21.5 ppg
  • Emily is back up to #2 in single-season FT% at 92.0%. She'd have to make 23 in a row to catch #1 (Carleton, 93.9%)
  • Lexi still just needs one FT attempt to qualify for the single-season list. She's at 89.8%.
  • Emily is #3 in career assists. She is 146 behind #1 Moody and 120 behind #2 Medders, both of whom she will catch next season as long as nothing keeps her from playing a normal number of games (Emily has 186 this season so far). She's at 599, so her next assist will make her the third Cyclone to hit 600.
  • Emily is #9 for single-season assists. She is, of course, already #1 on that list. With 4 more assists she'll jump up to #7.
  • Emily is 15 points away from becoming the second Cyclone this season to join the 1000 point club.
  • Morgan is still #3 in career FG% at 59.4% (Welle is #1 at 64.1% and Jaspers is #2 at 61.9%).
  • As of five years ago, Angie Welle was the only Cyclone to score over 20 ppg in a single season. Barring something weird happening in the last few games of the season, it's now happened six times (five straight seasons): Carleton x1, Joens x4.

3/11 notes (two games since the last update):
  • Ashley hit 3000 career points!
  • Emily continues to be #2 in single-season FT% at 92.7%. She'd have to make 16 in a row to catch #1 (Carleton, 93.9%)
  • Lexi now qualifies as well-- she is #4 in single-season FT% at 90.4%.
  • Emily continues to be #3 in career assists. She is 133 behind #1 Moody and 107 behind #2 Medders, both of whom she will catch next season as long as nothing keeps her from playing a normal number of games (Emily has 199 this season so far).
  • Emily is #7 for single-season assists. She is, of course, already #1 on that list. With 17 more assists she'll jump up to #3.
  • Emily became the second Cyclone this season to join the 1000 point club.
  • Morgan is still #3 in career FG% at 59.2% (Welle is #1 at 64.1% and Jaspers is #2 at 61.9%).
