2021 NBA playoffs thread

Fatigue on a bad knee. Last two games you can see a difference after half time.

I think it's pretty clear Embiid isn't in the kind of shape he needs to be in. He's in the Anthony Davis camp of being perpetually injured because he isn't conditioned the way a top-notch NBA player should be.

Just stopping in after finishing the end of Jazz/Clips this morning...

What The F'n Hell 76ers/Jazz?!?

The NBA has been full Tequila Drunk the past 2 nights.

I was fully expecting a Bucks home blowing out the Nets tonight but now I have no idea what to expect.

I don't know about that. I think he could be in a little better shape but he works his but off to be good. Probably more of a diet issue. And a torn meniscus isn't a conditiong issue. Either is a bruised knee, a torn ligament in his hand, an orbital fracture and his foot issues to begin his career.

What this postseason has reinforced to me is you win with elite guard play in the playoffs. For as good as guys like Embiid, Rudy, Jokic, Simmons, Giannis, etc. are during the regular season, they aren't guys you can give the ball late and say go get a bucket in a pivotal game. Great regular season players but you aren't winning consistently in the playoffs without guys like Durant, CP3/Booker, Trae Young, etc.

I'd agree with you, but the Clips being up 3-2 on the Jazz kind of disproves your theory. Even without Conley, the Jazz backcourt with Mitchell, Bogdonavic, Clarkson and Ingles is on paper better than any combo of guards the Clippers can throw out there. LAC is doing some damage with position-less basketball, but I would classify Paul George, Kawhi, and Marcus Morris as forwards/frontcourt players. Their actual guards leave a lot to be desired, but they're getting it done.

You can’t condition them like any run of the mill player. You’re putting on miles while doing the conditioning.

Does it sober up tonight? Methinks KD won't go off for near 50 in back to back games, so unless Harden has miraculously recovered in 48 hours, I would expect the Bucks to defend their homecourt tonight. That said, I've lost money betting on clear favorites on paper the last couple of nights.

Giannis may not have the ability to win this series on his own, but unless Durant is playing all world I don't think the Nets can win, either. He was great tonight, but he wasn't Game 5 great. And the Nets lost because of it.

Middleton very elite tonight.
