2021-2022 NCAA Men's Bracketology

Lets revisit this at the end of non-con I think. Personally, my goals have shifted from "play hard and be entertaining to watch" to "I want an NIT bid". If they win at least one of the next 2, and keep both close, I can maybe start thinking about the NCAAs,

I still think it is nice to have a thread consolidating computer and human projections.

Thank you to @LLCoolJansma for starting the one for this year.

Oh I agree, I'm just saying I can't quite get on board with a goal of an NCAA bid (yet)

Fair. Being a bit skeptical only 3 weeks in after the low preseason expectations. That said this team has put together a NCAA resume 7 games in that other teams haven't in the same time. Fans can rightfully dream of selection Sunday with reset expectations after seeing them play/results.

I'm not sold on the analytic folks still having KState and Okie State ahead of us in conference. Kstate is 0-2 vs P6 teams so far and Okie State has already lost to Wichita St and freaking Oakland. I'd put our finishing position at 6.5 based on what we've seen so far.

Can we bet on this somehow? I don't usually bet but with those odds and all of that, Ill throw down 100 buck on that. Not sure what my return would be if they made it but Ill take that chance with what they are saying

I don't gamble but I agree with you.

Whatever the odds equivalent of a 12% chance to make the NCAA tournament would seem a "buy."

The computer models seem extremely cautious because the Cyclones were so deplorable last year. I'm not sure they understand this is almost entirely a new basketball program at this point.

It would equate to about 7/1 odds, not sure that bet is actually posted anywhere though.

Vegas is still slow to catch up too. Me thinks after the Iowa game is when they go the other way. Betting the under opposing team totals has been a little personal oil well

If we beat Iowa and Missouri in Hilton, how many B12 wins do you think we need? I’d think 7 would get a bid for sure.

We just need to split those two games, then win 8 big 12 games. Non con resume isn't amazing but it's the resume of a solid tourney team and if you win 7 or 8 big 12 games, you're going to pick up another couple quality wins.

The problem is there's a good chance that none of our nonconference opponents are going to be ranked at the end of the season. So to really make a mark, we need a couple ranked upsets in conference play.

Joe Lunardi currently projecting our trajectory to a 7 seed, which is where he also has Xavier finishing up, if you'd like a comparison. Memphis was projected as a 6 seed this week. We can do that.

Incidentally, he has the Hawkeyes as an 8 seed.
