To be fair, I have had this very same thing happen to me when I asked a fellow tailgater in the JTS lots to toss me another Busch Light. In that situation, however, I blamed it on the snapper.now we just need a holder
There was a guy on America's Got Talent that was the long snapper for Cleveland (I think) for over 10 years that did magic and went real far in the competition. I looked up what he made on the salary cap sites and he was making almost a $1 million a year in the NFL as a long snapper!
I'm no expert either but I would think the biggest challenge for him would come after the snap. Big Twelve teams can line up some seriously large and athletic dudes across from the long snapper since that could be considered a weak point in the line.
There are rules in place to protect long snappers though. The defense can't line up across from him (have to be outside his shoulder pads, I think), and I believe they can't touch him for a second or two after the snap.
For those that aren't familiar with the Garo Yepremian pass (Fyi this was in the Super Bowl)
Jon Dorenbos and it was the Eagles. He was there a long time and then they traded him to New Orleans and during his physical they found a heart problem that required immediate surgery. It ended his career but probably saved his life. He was so popular in Philly they gave him a Super Bowl ring even though he wasn't on that team.
Still a long shot since maybe one snapper is drafted every year, but he should have a good chance to make a roster as an UFA.
I did not know that, kind of feel like an ass now, sorry. In my defense, I was 7 years old when he graduated. I did see that he is now the kicking coach for the bears.
I remember a few years ago the Vikings had an ultra popular long snapper. Like the town embraced him and he was kind of a normal dude that would hang out with everyone at the bar.
Now I know why he wasn't concerned about Iowa weather. He snaps indoors in a gymnasium.
Against KSU? That was for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He's not the center in any kicking formation.
I listened a to a Podcast Interview with Tanner Purdum on the Moonlight Graham Show a few months back. He was a NFL long-snapper that was discovered while tailgating at a Chiefs game. Really interesting story.

Funny story about Mike is that he accidentally stole a van once. He was leaving a store and saw what he thought was his van and drove away in it. His keys actually worked in this other vehicle, but he later realized it wasn't his. He drove back to the store where the owner was talking to police. They were able to sort it out without any charges.
That 4.5 40 time is actually kind of a big deal. If memory serves me correct, you can't hit the snapper on the punt, so they are often times one of the first people down in coverage. If you can snap like that and get down in coverage you are an asset.

Doing some reading, I ran across a reference to Carlos Hathcock II, a legendary Marine sniper in the Vietnam era. If I read it right, his son, Carlos Hathcock III also became a shooter and Marine Gunnery Sergeant.
I did find that Koby’s father (and HS coach) is named Jeremy. Does anyone know if they are related to Carlos?
