That plus Sergio vs. Phil was some really excellent golf today. I think they said there were 19 birdies between Phil and Sergio in that match alone. Fitting that both would birdie 18 to halve the match.
It was a blowout on the final scoreboard, but it was intense well into the afternoon. Good stuff. Glad to see the USA finally take care of business and leave no doubt.
That was a really impressive showing by the US team. How do you make that roster any better in 2 years? Can you? Tiger?
The roster was kind of laughable the way it was.
The two year points make it kind of questionable, there were a whole lot of guys on that team that really didn't do jack in 2016.
Get Billy Horschel back in form. I think he'd be a great RC player over someone like ZJ. Get Tiger in a form where he can play 3 sessions in place of someone. Other than that, there aren't many weaknesses in that roster. Obviously some people will fall out and get in but I hope some guys like Snedeker and Moore can hang around in there. The US was and is just much better 6-12.
If you don't like Rory, you're probably not much fun. The guy played the crowd, put on a show, played tremendous golf, mocked the crowd, mocked Reed, all while showing good sportsmanship and when the US won, he led a USA cheer. I'm convinced, like we'll never see another Tiger Woods, we'll never see another Rory so enjoy it. He's smart, charismatic, honest, funny, and really good. I think if you don't like him, you're probably one of those people who just don't like the great ones.
After seeing that tournament, I'm a bigger fan of Rory than I ever was before. Loved how he fed off the crowd and played with so much emotion. That Rory vs Reed match on Sunday kind of reminded me of Happy Gilmore vs Shooter McGavin.
No it wasn't. Unless you don't like Rory, I guess.
Rory just has this ability to not give a **** about anything but winning but at the same time still engage with fans and media. He's so damn self aware and intelligent as well. I don't know if he necessarily learned it from Tiger but it seems like he understands that being guarded doesn't help so he just says whatever he thinks and if you don't like it you can go kick rocks and he'll fist bump you on your way out.
I love Rory. He was eating it up all weekend, feeding off all the energy from the crowd. I think he was having the time of his life. Rory wasn't doing anymore "out of line" than Patrick Reed, but Rory gets all the hate, because he's Rory.
Patrick Reed is American Ian Poulter plus a few wins. He lives for the Ryder Cup. Rory on the other hand just hams it up for fun because, like I said, he knows it doesn't really matter in regard to his career. Reed needs it to matter. What really sold me on Rory (as if I wasn't sold already) was him starting the USA chant and handling the post match stuff the way he did after how the douchebag American golf fans acted throughout the week. Pete Willett probably shouldn't have said what he did but let's face it, it was mostly true.
