2016 Big 12 Schedule

I also think that the Oklahoma @ Iowa State game on the Thursday night might be on FS1 and not on ESPN. It's the same slot in the schedule that Baylor @ Kansas State had this year, which was an FS1 game.

That schedule is awful for season ticket holders. November home games are terrible for tailgating and just freezing your *** off. Gonna be a tough sell with that schedule.

We also tend to get the 11am kickoffs late in the season, especially if Tech and WV aren't compelling national attention.

That is also an awful schedule for making a bowl game. They will almost have to win the final 3 games in a row to bowl. When was the last time ISU won 3 conference games in a row? Putting our 3 most winnable conference games all in a row and all at the very end of the season is nearly worst case scenario.

This is setting up like it did for Rhoads, had good players, when to a few bowls...got new players....debacle...except for this year when we had good talent and didn't make it to a bowl. Outcome = fired.

I don't like being on the road for two of our first three games. Why are we starting Big 12 conference play a week earlier than everyone else?

Best case scenario those final games are at 11:00. Do you want another night game in the middle of November?

I was already on the fence about season tickets (mainly family conflicts and the long drive) but this pretty much cinches it...next year will be my first without season tickets. I'll go the single ticket route for 3-4.

Looks like:

Sept. 3: UNI
Sept. 10: @ Iowa
Sept. 17: @ TCU
Sept. 24: San Jose State
Oct. 1: Baylor
Oct. 8: @ Oklahoma State
Oct. 15: @ Texas
--Oct. 22: Bye week--
Oct. 29: Kansas State
Nov. 3: Oklahoma (Thursday night game)
Nov. 12: @ Kansas
Nov. 19: Texas Tech
Nov. 26: West Virginia

I don't hate this schedule. Very likely start 2-2. Get a bye before KSU...hopefully they play the week before that game. Get OU at home on a short week...I am curious who OU has after us. That short week also means an extra couple days to prep for KU, which we know will be a must win roadie. 4 of last 5 games at home, with one road trip to Lawrence. That's great.

I know people aren't going to be happy with all the mid-late season home games, but it's one of the few advantages ISU might hold over a team like Tech. The colder the better IMO.

If ISU can sneak an upset somewhere in CONF play early, the season would look pretty good on the back side with a 3-3 or 3-4 start.

This is prob worst case honestly. WV in Ames late November? Give me ISU. @tcu and @tx both winnable IMO as is Iowa. TCU will lose a ton including Boykin and WR. They will always have a good team but they won't be anything near this year.

TCU losing Boykin will look similar to when we lost Seneca. They had a tremendous drop off when he got injured.

Does anyone know how "hand-crafted" the Big 12 schedule is? I've heard people talk about it being "computer-generated," but it can't be entirely generated by random. For instance, it has "rivalry" games at the end of the season, except for Texas/Oklahoma which is always mid-season. And all the Texas teams play each other in Texas during Thanksgiving week.

Home games only:

Sept. 3: UNI
Sept. 24: San Jose State
Oct. 1: Baylor
Oct. 29: Kansas State
Nov. 3: Oklahoma (Thursday night game)
Nov. 19: Texas Tech
Nov. 26: West Virginia

I agree, not the best slate for season tickets.

I can tell you from BITTERLY COLD experience that we may be sitting in snow for the last 2 games but who in the Heck Cares.....................

Go Cyclones Crush the Mountain Men from West Virginny

We always say Tech is winnable even though we haven't beat them in 4 years, and three of those games weren't even close.

Before this year they have beat us by 3, 7 and 9 points since our last win. The 9 point loss was a closer game then the 7 point loss too. Seems like close games to me, especially when in Ames.

Still odd that the Big 12 does not have all teams play on championship weekend to get maximum exposure, although they do have 3 games scheduled for 2016. Only 4 teams that dont play on Dec 3 or ISU, KU, Tech and Texas.
