2014 Recruiting

I know there are a lot of threads about recruiting right now, but I figured one more couldn't hurt.

Looking at the scholarship breakdown, we only have two scholarships left to give for 2014 (assuming Custer signs and no one leaves). Now, I know assuming there is no attrition is unrealistic, but it's not a rabbit hole I want to go down right now.

Based on the recruiting updates I've seen (I have absolutely no inside information), it looks like our focus is on a SG/wing and a PF/center. I'm sure I'm going to leave some players out, but here's the way I see it.

At SG/wing, I think we're all hoping that Vaughn (Rashad Vaughn - Yahoo! Sports) will commit. It might lead to a magical 2014-2015 season, but I think it's probable that he's a one and done. If we don't land him, Fred seems to have some interesting prospects in Darrell Davis (Darrell Davis - Yahoo! Sports), Kevin Zabo(Kevin Zabo - Yahoo! Sports), Jared Terrell (Jared Terrell - Yahoo! Sports), and JP Macura (J.P. Macura - Yahoo! Sports).


For the PF/center position, I think we have a lot of great options. If we land any of these guys, I will be over the moon.
Reid Travis (Reid Travis - Yahoo! Sports)
Quadri Moore (Quadri Moore - Yahoo! Sports)
Sean O'Mara (Sean O'Mara - Yahoo! Sports)
Abdul-Malik Abu (Abdul-Malik Abu - Yahoo! Sports)

What do people think? I feel like we have a decent shot at Vaughn and will land one of the guys on the PF/center list. I think we could have an incredible chance at having the best recruiting class in ISU's history (even if it's only 3 players).
 
Great write-up. I like when its all in one place.

If we somehow pull any combination of the above kids, I will be happy. What Fred wants, Fred gets. And he is only strengthening his case.
 
I have heard that Reid Travis will be taking 10 official visits. (He can take five for BB and five for FB since he is being recruited for both.) When his list comes out I would be greatly surprised (tickled, but greatly surprised) if ISU makes the cut.
 
My preference based on limited video and hype:

SG: Vaughn, Terrell, Davis
F/C: Travis, AMA, Moore, O'Mara

I think the most likely is Davis and O'Mara, but Vaughn and O'Mara is a very real possibility. That's just my gut feeling.
 
Yeah, I don't see Travis happening. From what I have seen, if he stays local, it will be in Minnesota.
Vaughn is the prize of the class if we can get him. To me, I think Fred will try to land some big fish in the class but if he can't, he will focus on transfers or bank them for the 2015 class. I would love to see Vaughn and Abu come here the most but I wont hold my breath.

State 43 how are you doing haven't been on because I was in the field.... Got caught up on everything I have some news for you on the Vaughn front pm me and I will tell you what I know

Why do people always forget Miroslav Jaksic for the big man list? If Fred and Coach K from Duke are interested, I'm interested.
 
This thread just got dumb. Unfortunate.

There doesn't seem to be much information on Jaksic's recruitment. Good call. I would be more than happy to get him. The bottom line is it looks like Hoiberg has a lot of options at this point and there's a good chance of grabbing three quality 4-year players including Custer.

Why couldn't this be done, entirely, via PM? If it's not for the masses, why put a message like this out there?

Not trying to be a ****. Just wondering.

Essentially he said his source explained that RV wanted to commit but his folks put a stop to it saying he needs to visit ISU and UM some more. Apparently they have a good relationship with our staff. Take it for what it's worth. My blind optimism says Operation Dreamy is working 100%. :)

Davis I think will be top 150, O'Mara and Custer top 100, though barely.
