I imagine they're at odds over a one round difference in picks, and Houston is threatening to draft Carr, and NE is daring them to fail with Carr 2.0.
True he was in bad position but even when he left Houston he was nothing more than a backup.
Don't know much about bridgewater, anyone got any good info or some highlights for me to watch?
Funny how the three teams who reached on a QB in the first round all took a QB in the first round in recent years. And they'll probably be taking another one in the first round in the next four years
As a Packers fan, I couldn't be happier with Minnesota's pick. Carr made way more sense imo but only time will tell. I just don't see Bridgewater getting it done in the league but who knows. Drafting QBs is typically a roll of the dice and that is definitely the case this year.
I kind of understand why so many people think Manziel is a likely bust (I disagree) but don't get how they can be so confident in guys like Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater. My theory is people hate him because of the non stop media coverage and that has clouded their judgement. Or maybe I've been blinded by the flashiness of Johnny Football. Either way it will be fun to watch it play out!

You might be surprised to find out that it's less based on the media coverage/flashiness, and more based on watching his play, where a significant amount of his production, while exciting, came from broken plays, near misses and prayer passes to Mike Evans. Plays that worked well in college, but will get him killed when facing NFL defenses, or picked off at the very least. Too much of his production came from junk, schoolyard stuff that will be a lot tougher to pull off in the pros.
As a Vikings fan, I had the same thoughts. However, I watched a pre-draft analysis about the Vikings maybe picking Bridgewater with the No. 8 pick. The consensus was that he would not be a very good value at No. 8, but if they slid down the draft into maybe the 20s and picked him, he would be a value pick there. Then they went on to say what a great fit he would be for the Vikings. So I'm not so sure now. My first thought was, "Can you say Christian Ponder?"
I think as far as meeting needs, they did it with the No. 8 and the last pick. The need to get some DB help with the 2 third round picks IMO.
Carr was the no brainer pick. When Bridgewater busts like Ponder this is probably going to cost Spielman his job in a year or two tops. Should have lost it after the Ponder pick, IMO.

No I get that as well. I watched Manziel play plenty and I'm well aware that he's a high risk/high reward guy. To succeed in the NFL, he'll definitely need to get more comfortable in the pocket and throw it away when there's nothing there. People writing him off are assuming he won't learn and adjust and I think that's just silly. Johnny has the tools to get it done but just needs to put it together mentally. He may or may not do it but he's definitely not a Tebow situation like some suggest.
Bridgewater is the best QB in the Draft and he will make teams pay.

After day 1, my draft winners and losers are:
Green Bay- As a Vikings fan, I hate to say this, but the Packers got a good players at great value in the first round. Ha Ha is a good safety and it was by far, GB's biggest need in the draft.
Dallas- This is pretty much for them not taking JM. They took a good OT in Martin who can play right away.
Cleveland- They got the CB they wanted and then they got Johnny Football at a great value pick at 22. They also went back and got a First and Third round draft pick for next year.
Losers:
Jags- Taking Blake Bortles at 3 is a reach. Also, if you wanted to bring fans in, take Watkins or Mack to get great value also. Also, Bortles has no one else around him so failure is almost certain.
KC- KC reach on a player when they could have had WR Lee from USC or a solid DB.
NE- They had the biggest reach in the first round in my mind. They took a guy who has been hurt throughout his career but once again its the Pats so somehow it will work out.
Questionable: Vikings- I believe drafting Barr at 9 was a reach and also Bridgewater had a horrible pro day and was not accurate but looking at interviews, the Vikings got the 2 guys they wanted. Barr was listed as Zimmerman's second favorite player behind Clowney. Also Norv stated that it was a even race between Bridgewater and Johnny Football. I would have loved to see them trade up and take JM but they got good value for Bridgewater with only having to give up a fourth round pick. People question Bridgewater, but he had one of the best college careers and completed 72% of his passes in college.

Agreed. The 2 Chiefs fans I was watching with were extremely disappointed with it. They wanted Lee pretty bad, & I agree with them that he would have been the better option for them.
I'm happy with Denver's pick. I don't know much about Roby, but I thought d backs was the biggest need & he was around the top of best available so makes sense to me.
