2014 Bracketology

Tough teams for us to play may be Syracuse, Mich State, San Diego State and Villanova. Should be able to play with any of the other teams as we have players who know how to close out games.

We née to take care of our business winning the ones we should, at least split with the big boys, and have some help from the middle of the pack teams to get us the big 12 title.

If we win out at home I think we have very very good odds to win the Big 12. Like 80% odds.

Just gotta go out there and do it.

Lunardi has us as a #2 seed (technically team #8 on the S-Curve which translates to a #2 seed) and the AQ bid for the Big 12 in his latest bracket math. (It's an insider article)

Bracketology - Arizona lands top spot on S-curve season debut - College Basketball - ESPN

If S-curve followed precisely in that region, it's something like this (I'm guessing subregions; I didn't assess entire bracket, just West):

WEST | Anaheim
(San Diego)
1 Arizona
16 Florida Gulf Coast/Hampton*
8 Illinois
9 Harvard
-------------
(Orlando/Raleigh)
5 Louisville
12 So Miss
4 Kentucky
13 North Dakota State
-------------
(Spokane)
6 Memphis
11 Oklahoma**
3 Villanova
14 Boston U
-------------
(St. Louis)
7 Missouri***
10 Virginia
2 Iowa State
15 Georgia State

*Random placement of lowest auto bids
**I would guess OU gets flipped out of that region to avoid possible Sweet 16 matchup w/ ISU.
***Missouri could be swapped elsewhere, 7 wouldn't be placed more favorably than a 2.

I'd like chances in that region!

How do they have all of these SEC teams on the fringe on there? The SEC is a lousy conference and Alabama isn't even .500 overall right now. If they're considered a "fringe" team, then that's absolutely absurd!

Well, it's really early in the season, so they are considered fringe due to their impending games against Florida, Kentucky and Missouri. If any of those teams can steal those games, they improve their chances. That's why being in a top 6 conference is so key to getting into the tourney. You get to have more marquee games. I doubt any of those fringe teams are there in 2-3 weeks.

That South bracket could sooo blow up.

My Elite 8 with that field:
WEST
5. Duke
2. Kansas
SOUTH
4. Kentucky
7. Michigan
EAST
1. Syracuse
3. Ohio State
MIDWEST
1. Michigan State
2. Florida

You don't have ISU in your Elite 8? That's ****ed up. You don't even have to be a homer to predict that. GTFO.

Not sure if this is serious, but it is true. I mean it isn't even close to homerish to have Iowa State in the Elite Eight with this bracket. That being said you have the right to your opinion.

Among those 3 seeds, ISU has the most-resistant 6 & 2 seeds ... it's less about confidence in Iowa State, but the path to the Elite 8. Swap Iowa State to the South in exchange for OSU and I'd be coin-flipping with UK-ISU for Final Four.

Yep, ISU could certainly get past UF, so it's not like it was all-or-nothing choice.
