2013 Recruit Prospects

To be fair to him the product on the field the last couple years is absolutely irrelevant to the observation that Iowa got a kid we were also recruiting. He is saying that this year we aren't doing as well instate as we have in the past. Whether that is right or wrong, his claim was absolutely independent of or previous records.

Now if you were to say we will still be fine, and use our previous records and play as evidence, that would be a valid opinion.

Now, to answer from an actual Cyclone point of view...I agree, it has been tough sledding this year.

But that has always, and is going to be the case for a long time. A win over the number 2 team isn't all of a sudden going to totally change the landscape for Iowa State. This is still more about recruiting kids that are under the radar, and developing them. We have to do that here, and that isn't going to change three years into this.

I know that the fans, especially ones with agendas, are going to try to poison the well. But this was a total program build, NOT rebuild, five years ago, and we had a coaching change in the midst of it.

IF we can go out and win some games this year, get to a better bowl game, and show real progress, then we can set our sights higher. But on the field results are what count. These kids remember iowa in the orange bowl, even if they didn't care to watch it like the vast majority of the country. Until we can get above the bottom tier bowl game, noone will care, and we really have nothing to show.

We have to start getting kids in the NFL also. This was CPR's third year. He should have a foundation in place. Let's see what he build from there.

You do realize the guy only posts to criticize. He is another idiot insecure mouthbreather hawk fan that thinks he is tricky by having Cy in his name.

Notice the sob never posted a congratulatory note after the Okie State game, or after basketball season.

Hell the sorry dumb son of a ***** even has a UNI site accout where he went and got ***** hurt after UNI kicked the **** out of his hawks in MBB

LOL I see little reason to post after the big wins. "Congratulatory note"? What? Who am I congratulating on a message board? There's very little to debate about after a big win thus I really don't post. I find it a little odd you apparently track me this closely. The Internet is serious business, apparently.

I don't even know what UNI's site is. Nice try though.

Yeah, I guess that the product that we see on the field is absolutely irrelevant.

(do i really need a jimlad?)

Do you mean like when I mention we have been UNDER .500 each of the past two seasons? Or how it took us 2 OTs to beat a bad Iowa team at home last year but they smoked us the 3 years prior? Is that related to the product on the field?

Back to the recruiting focus, I would really like to see some LBs and some RBs come on board at this point. We could really use a JUCO LB for next seasons class, but I have no idea if we are in on any. Would love to see a couple good OLB prospects. Mitchell is the best still on our board, but he has been the type of prospect that stays in Texas recently, and will probably be A/M or Baylor. I think Reggie Spearman is our best bet at this point. He seemed excited about us a few weeks ago. Do we know if any of the RBs we are recruiting has shown any desire to visit?

No, unlike you, I actually say what I mean. I mean the product on the field, dipstick. I said nothing about won-loss record. Over the last four years, the product on the field has steadily improved. It's blatantly obvious to anyone with the eyes to see and the brains to understand. One small example, for your um, tightly focused perspective, is the defensive tackle position. When McCarney first got here, he was throwing anyone at the position that he could. And while he eventually had some decent tackles, he never, EVER had more than three at a time who could see the field. One reserve, to relieve both positions.

By midseason last Fall, CPR had six who were seeing time. He'll start out with six this Fall, assuming there are no injuries--and that doesn't count the incoming freshman. Nor does it even recognize the offers he has out to guys who haven't yet decided, guys who are closer to the better of those aforementioned half dozen than the worst.

So if you want to sit there and sniffle and whine, go ahead. NSD is next freaking February, and a whole lot will change by then. So what if the Hawkeyes have fifteen commitments right now. They're decent players, but not a whole lot special yet.

So, what is your problem? Are you one of those guys who judges yourself by looking around the locker room at the other guys, so that you always come out (cough) on the short end? Is that it?

Well, try judging internally, for a change. The defensive tackles were one small example. I'm simple not going to list all of them, all of the improvements across the board. Well, admittedly, placekicker is yet to be seen, but still.

So now, either man up, and admit that you could be wrong, that CPR might actually have a clue what he's doing...or stop whining and ******* in your beer, is all that I gotta say.

I find that to be an odd reference. Perhaps that is an issue you have experienced.

I like CPR but he ultimately has to win football games. Subjective comparisons to our past teams have little to do with winning games.
