MR --AFAM---MSFT

Love getting new ideas. I look for value and 10 year track record. I don't chase. Sold the balance of DECK with a stop at 79.00 yesterday. Bought at about 49.00 a few months ago. Keep looking. Give me ideas. I love to share my ideas. Thanks

NFLX & AAPL have been incredible for the past couple years for me, but I think NFLX may be static for awhile now. GGP is intriguing.

At the risk of giving up my ace in the hole, since this is a game, here's what I do:

Watch the stock market for the 10 biggest droppers in the morning, with a goal of finding a stock that is down 10-20%, but with no recent news associated with it.

Load up on that stock. Immediately set a limit sale for 5% above what you paid for it. It seems like the stock will usually rebound from it's lows if there's not a compelling reason for the drop, and even if it finishes well down for the day, you are in and out.

Unfortunately, unless you are playing with serious money (and can stomach massive risk), I don't think you can get in and out in real life quite as fast as the game does it.

I made a a nice recovery today. Went from worst to first in one day by making around $10K.

:jiggy:

I did a stock simulation with two of my Personal Finance classes at school. One of my students groups invested in US Steel (X) and had a return of over 46% In a little over 2 months. Under Armour also had about 25% return. I was pretty shocked at US Steel though. Granted they will level out over the year, 46% was a bit above average return.

I have a neighbor who invests in US Steel a lot. What he does is he invests in the company when they are down and rides the short increase in the stock and sells. Looking at the chart, it looks relatively volatile moving up and down in $5 every half a month or so. The Beta of the stock according to Yahoo finance is 2.52. Your students probably caught the stock in a good time.
