13 in a row

I think it's apparent that the league isn't going to take it from them by waiting for KU to have a down year. Someone is going to have to step up and have a fantastic year and not trip up somewhere. KU has not been the clear cut best team every year of the last 13. They've just allowed themselves the least amount of slip ups of anyone.

Props on 13, impressive no matter what.

Graham
Vick
Svi
Bragg
Azibuike

Missed on the Oklahoma PG this week.

Who else do they have a shot at? I'm sure the get something, but I guess I don't see them as invincible next year. Although I don't know that anyone else in the conference will be that awesome, maybe Baylor if Motley stays?

If Texas keeps stringing together good classes, I'll put my money on them.

Malik Newman and Sam Cunliffe are also on next year's team oh yeah and Marcus Garrett.

WVU has the most back of the top teams but Baylor even without Motley should be good. TCU will be better, Texas and OU I would imagine are better next year but still hard to tell how it will shake out until you see who leaves and who stays. But the easy money is on KU for the 14th.

Oky State has attracted good talent and I'm much more impressed with Underwood than Shaka. Huggy isn't going anywhere either. I'd put either them or Baylor ahead of Texas ,especially in the next year or two.

That said, I'm not picking anybody besides KU until somebody shows me they can knock them off.

Just to be clear, my Texas pick is in 3 to 4 years - depressing. I think they've been top 10 in recruiting the last 2 years and I think Shaka can keep that going.

...or Simeon Carter rededicates himself over the summer, turns into Fizer v2.0 and we go 16-2 with Texas Tech sweeping us next year. :)

I've been saying for years that the ref's bias towards Kansas hurts them in the long run. I know refs seem to be a target here a lot, but most would agree that Kansas gets breaks that others don't seem to. And with that said, I also think Kansas is a helluva program with a great coach. But regular season games are called so differently for Kansas than they are in the tourney, that ultimately it hurts them and, imo, that's why they usually have an earlier exit from the tourney than they should. They just aren't as used to dealing with adverse situations from bad calls that other teams tend to be used to.
Name one game that KU lost in the tourney becaue the refs were calling it differently. There isn't one. When KU loses in the tourney, it's because we shoot poorly and didn't play well enough to win. KU went 6-22 from 3 against Nova last year and lost. The year before they shot 6-21 from three versus Wichita State and lost. The year before they shot 32% overall in the game versus Stanford and lost.

I know this doesnt fit into your conspiracy theory but it is what the reality of it is. Fans cheering against KU repeating their stupid theory on the refs doesn't make it true.

Wait Champ said you lost the Nova game because Graham got called for a foul because he took a guy out at the legs

Actually, you are incorrect in that statement. The conference tournament champion would represent the conference just like in all the mid-major conferences so KU would have a 1 year appearance streak going.
Actually I am not incorrect in my statement. I was stating that I would love to go back to how it was when UCLA was winning all those national titles and since conference tourneys DIDNT EVEN EXIST at that time, it was the regular season conference title winner that represented the conference in the ncaa tourney.

But they exist now and the conference tournament winner gets the auto bid into the tournament for the conference. So yes, you were incorrect. KU would have an impressive 1 year streak of appearances going.

Champ can defend himself and his silly comments. Leave me out of that. He and I do not agree on many things.

Shame we did not have one of the Georges teams this year.

KU is good this year, yeah, but not particularly deep.

If there was a year to take them down, it was probably this one.

The Big 12 is super deep but also not top heavy this year.

Kansas has been impressive in the 13 year streak no doubt. They shared 4 titles in that stretch. '05 '06 '08 & '13. That said I don't think it takes anything away from the the conference as a power. Big 12 has been and will continue to be a premier conference in CBB. I would actually say that it adds to Kansas' accomplishment more over then taking away from the conference. Yuck these thoughts suck to think about. I'm sure most Kansas fans would trade in the 13 years of domination of the Big 12 for a couple more tourney runs that made it out of the first weekend!!!

Facepalm. I'm sorry you are having a hard time grasping the context of my statement so I will spell it out for you. I would love to go back to the size and rules of eligibility to get into the tourney that UCLA operated under back when they were winning all those titles because KU would be in the tourney pretty much every year, would have to win half as many games to be national champ and conference foes would get demoralized nver making the tourney appearance.

Is that more clear?

This reminds me of the time the Big12 conference named co-champions in football a couple of years ago. They created this whole mess. They should have used tie-breakers to name a champion in those "shared" years. Instead, they just end up making the conference look stupid.

And all of us peons should be demoralized by the fact that we never win the season title outright? You continually show us the true meaning of arrogance.

Here's a hell of a stat for you. (And this is a yearly trend).

Free throw attempts per conference game in AFH.
KU- 28.6
Opp- 16

Free throw attempts per game on the road.
KU-17.1
Opp- 17.5

Now what in the world could possibly be the cause of that?

Wait for it....

I appreciate that you hang every word of mine, but those words got twisted in your head.

Just out of curiosity, name the last time a late game controversial call went against KU, and helped the other team win the game.

Last year against Villanova. I wouldn't say it caused KU to lose but it definitely helped Villanova

That whooshing sound is the point flying over your head. In the La La World of alternative reality we were discussing of living today under the rules of the 60s-70s era of college hoops, I would like it if opposing fan bases didnt get a tourney appearance to be excited about. It undoubtedly helped UCLA back in those days that they were seen as one of the few reliable teams for a recruit to make the tourney. Now, most of the power 5 teams have a good shot at a tourney appearance. Recruits are way more spreax out than they used to be.

It hs nothing to do with arrogance and everything to do with a random comparison about what it would be like if today's Jayhawks played under the rules that the old UCLA teams did. Quit trying so hard to find something to be offended by.

This is a confirmation bias thing against KU. Most home teams benefit from the calls especially good teams. Free throw attempts isn't how this should be measured either. Use # of fouls. I team could have more free throw attempts but less fouls called simply by getting fouled in the act of shooting alot.
