Another day down and hopefully another step closer to our new head coach. I'm sure going into the weekend more rumors will be flying around today, looking forward to it.

Just heard on Rivals radio that Gary Barnett will be the next coach at ISU. Bill King (whom I respect very much) claimed it would be a grand slam, knock it out of the park hire. "Very much an upgrade".
 
The thing that has been concerning me is that many of the coaches we are supposedly pursuing (with good reason) are in bowl games. For instance, Charlie Strong's team won't be playing until, what, January 8th? I guess you wait if it's the right choice, but the timing probably isn't the best.

I can't respect Gary Barnett. All of the issues CU had when he was there... Don't want to see that at ISU....
 
I still like Pat Hill out of Fresno State. I know it's probably a long shot and he is an alum of Fresno but I think he's exactly what Iowa State needs.

I guess never say never.

If it's that far out, they can agree to the job, but still coach their team in the Bowl Game if they choose to. That's what USC is doing with their OC...

You got a link that quotes him saying the girl "deserved to be raped?"

That's a very reckless comment and is not true. Barnett can flat out coach...he's only gone to Northwestern and Colorado and won championships at both.
 
I just got an e-mail from a very reliable source that says Lloyd Carr has accepted the job and will bring Stoops in as his Associate head Coach.

Of course I sent the e-mail to myself.:jimlad:

You gotta go to the middle of the page... How it went down is they asked him about the rape allegations and he responded by putting her down. He implied that she wasn't a good player therefore deserved to be raped..... He was suspended for a year based on these comments
