11/10 - 11/11 Possible Winter Weather Thread

Ed just said on 13 there's a chance of snow Monday evening north of highway 20. Who should I trust?

When I was in high school, Ed predicted over 10 inches of snow overnight. Assuming school would be cancelled, I didn't study for a test. When I woke up literally no snow on the ground. Hopefully that answers your question.

Winter is coming.

Honestly, it's the first time I've ever seen that blog. But the post today lays out the model snowfall solutions that are available pretty well.

Also I would agree with the cooler than normal winter. In fact this pattern taking shape into next week is very reminiscent to one seen at several points last winter.

The in laws live very close to your location. The last thing that area needs is a repeat of last year.

We Had it bad enough in Central Iowa but it was nothing compared to what the I-90 corridor dealt with.

Ed and Jeriann are easily whipped into a frenzy and skew towards the highest totals. I swear I don't believe them unless Megan or Brett verifies. I don't know how to judge McDermott yet.

Just an insane winter. The month of February had at least 6 true blizzards. Roads never had a chance to recover. You could drive down the interstate a couple days removed from any snow and there was still spots that had ice 3" think on it. "Potholes" were everywhere.

Yup... it is what it is.

And what's linked by the OP is a pretty good synopsis on the model output right now. Somewhere is going to pick up 6"+ but where does it line up. Still four days out and tough to pinpoint right now.

So, washing the summer mobile, changing the oil and treating the gas today in anticipation of an early auto hibernation for the Porsche was good planning? It marks the end of fall and is always sad because next stop is cold and dark and snow and ice.

Due to babies being born, baptisms, etc we had quite a few trips up there last winter. Have never seen drifts along the highway and interstate like Austin area last year. And yes roads were just constant ice.

All of my wife's relatives had paths with 6 feet of snow on each side to their houses. Brother in law had to dig out LP tank as it was buried in a drift over 10 feet high.

IIRC the snow stayed in the ditches until first of May.

Trying to remember which town had their main water line freeze.

It it was a costly winter for lots in that area.

I work outside year round. I'm not okay with a repeat of last winter. Waking up to wind chills of -25 every other morning gets old quick. And before anyone says it, yes, I should find a new line of work.
