$100 million theme park coming to Waterloo.

I've been to the park about half a dozen times. It's an absolute blast. I am in Waterloo quite a bit to hang out with the in-laws. We end up rolling over to the park. They also have Dole whip (which is incredible).

If you are on the fence, go. It's a really nice park with incredible theming. I live in Ames and prefer Lost Island (than whatever Adventureland is).

As far as Worlds of Fun goes, it has way more coasters. If coasters are your thing, Lost Island is still growing and will be expanding in that area. It's a young park, and the family that owns it knows how to develop a theme (which will lead to better themed coasters).

Too long didn't read: theme park enthusiasts give Lost Island rave reviews. Go there. It's a blast.

I mean this sincerely… do people care about the theme of parks? I mean unless it’s Harry Potter or Disney or something I honestly don’t care.

I agree, I was responding to the guy saying Adventureland was in trouble. They are both mid level parks, and my point is if I’m going to drive to a park I’m driving a little further for something a little more.
Growing up we always went to Valley Fair, it was basically the same distance to VF and Adventureland.

Everyone always said Adventureland sucked, and no one really wanted to go there. I still have only been to Adventureland I think one time in my life and I live less than 30 mins from it now.

WOF is still better than both, but VF is so much better than Adventureland its not even close. I havent been to the new one in Waterloo, but know many that have been the waterpark, that has been there for quite a while and it was always said to be pretty nice.

So my family had season passes this year to Lost Island because I live about 10 minutes away. About a week after we bought the passes I tore my rotator cuff so I couldn't really do any rides. If you want to go on a bunch of rides without waiting in line it's fantastic. From what I understand they're just starting to turn a profit but the place is a long way from packed. I don't think any of the lines were longer than a 10-15 minute wait this summer. The roller coasters looked like a blast but my shoulder hurt way too much this summer to get on them. The food inside isn't stupid expensive in my opinion, you can eat a meal for less than $15/person. My wife and I actually went out on a dinner date there one night and got some really good ramen bowls and a beer for less than $40. I'd encourage you all to come give it a try if you like going on rides it's a really good little park and they're developing more land to grow it.

I don't recall seeing any advertising for the park and forgot it's open. Benefit of Adventureland is both parks on one ticket.
